How’s this for etiquette and protocol?

It may be against C-3PO’s programming to impersonate a deity, but he doesn’t seem to have any qualms about hopping in a giant mech suit and dispensing some righteous justice. Greg Dalinkeiwicz, already an expert at creating LEGO mechs for other memorable Star Wars characters, brings everyone’s favorite whiny droid back for some vengeance. C-3PO’s battle mech is gloriously detailed, with plenty of wires and pistons running between gold pieces from the Chima and Ninjago product lines to form the threatening exterior. But this is still Endor, home of the Ewoks, so C-3PO’s new ride isn’t all metal. An owl roosts on the mech’s shoulder, a flower blooms on the head, and it wields a mighty wooden spear. If the Empire couldn’t fend off a bunch of teddy bears with sharp rocks the first time around, they’re pretty dead now.

That’s no twin suns...

Ah, Tatooine. A wretched hive of scum and villainy and being the centre of the galaxy. Honestly, everything Star Wars seems to take place at this dangerous ripoff of Arrakis from Dune. However, somehow it works. What amuses me is that amongst all the bounty hunters and intergalactic crime cartels, the biggest dangers for two droids is freaking Jawas. Short, hooded, chattery notorious salesmen traveling in a massive brown tank. And this small build by Kosmas Santosak conveys this so well.

Stranded

There’s just something about the image of a hooded Jawa looming over a stranded C-3PO and R2-D2 that makes me laugh. Perhaps it’s the glowing yellow eyes that’s a parallel to Tatooine’s twin suns that is clever and funny. Or perhaps looking at it I can hear the high-pitched babble of those mischievous scavengers…

These are the droids that I’m surely looking for

Builder DOGOD Brick Design certainly found the droids that we were all looking for. These tiny builds of the robots that we know and love so dearly are cleverly built in a slightly 2D form. The flat designs would sit quite nicely in a frame or stuck on a magnet or even on a Christmas ornament. While the building techniques may be simple-looking, DOGOD certainly brought these characters to life with instant recognition. I wonder if we might see the rest of the characters from the Star Wars movies represented in a similar style sometime in the future.
