When you think of floating islands, fantasy scenes may be what comes to mind, but I like the look of this tiny shop by sukhodolov_nikita, complete with some questionable utility pipes and wires. I also love the small cat looking for a snack of its own. Props for the use of an alien chef from the 2012-2013 Galaxy Squad theme.

We’re howling with praise for this LEGO model of Studio Ghibli’s iconic Moving Castle
Studio Ghibli films are known for unusual and fanciful vehicles like the floating castle of Laputa from Castle in the Sky, or the glider from Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, but few vehicles are more iconic than the walking, and at the end of the film, flying, castle belonging to the enigmatic magician Howl. The enchanted structure made from buildings, round cannon turrets, fishlike fins, and a large rusty face complete with riveted tongue, all walking along on four spindly chicken legs, poses many challenges to any builder, but Sakiya Watanabe works magic and brings it to life in bricks like never before.
When building something so iconic, choosing the right parts can be challenging, as there is nothing conventional about the outer surface of the castle. How do you form a cohesive model out of such a chaotic inspiration? (I’ve tried myself once before – it wasn’t easy!)
Read on to learn how Sakiya Watanabe weaved his LEGO magic and tamed Howl’s famous castle

Spaceship + Geometry + LEGO = one fascinating fractal fighter
The Nexo Knights theme introduced quite a few new angled slopes and other geometric parts to LEGO, like the famous “Nexagon“, and the sharp-angled slopes used on the sides of this fighter by Inthert. With its many sharp angles, this 6 pointed starfighter is giving me Black Sun vibes (one of the many crime syndicates from Star Wars legends). The color scheme fits well with Nexo Knights as well, with the gun metal gray and bright color accents on a largely blue livery.
LEGO golden arches... do you want fries with that? [Building Techniques]
Few modern brands are more iconic than LEGO, but McDonald’s is certainly one of them. And with so many new LEGO elements coming out over the years, the building techniques used by builders and set designers alike to create unconventional curves and connection points continue to amaze and inspire. Just one look at this model of the golden arches by Aiden.Builds has my mouth watering for a sausage breakfast sandwich or an Oreo McFlurry. The gentle curves of the arches are made with a surprising amount of straight pieces, and the scale of the build is at first glance deceptively small.

This LEGO Book of Boba Fett is an excellent read
Star Wars fans may have scratched their heads at Disney+’s choice of names for a show about one of the galaxy’s most notorious bounty hunters, but Les Foutch took it as a challenge and built a LEGO book to capture iconic moments from the show in miniature vignettes. With so many action-packed scenes from the show to choose from, it took two volumes to fit it all. The results are a cool tribute to the show and must have been a lot of fun to build as well!
Read on to crack open the over and peek inside the Book of Boba Fett
A worthy watery tribute to a great LEGO theme
While LEGO Star Wars may have brought me back to buying LEGO sets regularly, the Atlantis theme from 2010-2011 was one of the first themes where I bought every set that came out. It was a perfect mix of submarines and sci-fi. By the look of this awesome homage to one of the most memorable sets in the theme, by Edge of Bricks is as big a fan as I am.
This reboot of LEGO Atlantis 8061 Gateway of the Squid is a substantial upgrade of the original but retains all of the classic elements, including a cage made of squid bones (which is cool, even if squids don’t have any bones). The base is packed with great undersea flora and fauna, including a garden of green hot dog elements and glow-in-the-dark crowns as anemones.

I’ve got a good feeling about this LEGO starfighter
Personally, I don’t really understand the Jedi interceptor compared to the larger Jedi starfighters, which seemed to be faster and more maneuverable. But I can not deny that Matt has captured Obi-Wan’s iconic fighter from Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith perfectly in LEGO. From the diminutive cockpit to the flip-out wings, which use a clever attachment to allow the wings to open and close. The ship also sits on an angled stand that blends in to the background very well.
If you are thinking that something is missing, think again, as Matt has also recolored the model for Anakin’s interceptor as seen in the long shot opening sequence. This view also gives you a look at the back of the creation.
Tachikoma meets Classic space in this amazing LEGO mashup
Intrepid wildlife photographer Cool Dogs 2.0 captures the elusive classic space Tachikoma on patrol with a red spaceman. This plucky think-tank makes great use of the relatively new inverted clip both for the hands and as wheels on its four legs. I’ve been re-watching Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex lately, and the white background reminds me of the short clips after the credits of each episode that feature a team of Tachikomas having adventures together.
