Happy holidays to all of our fellow LEGO builders! As is tradition, we at The Brothers Brick will be opening our advent calendars as we count down to Christmas. We’ll also be sharing commentary on each one, which will be both insightful and hilarious!
This year we have new Harry Potter, Star Wars, City and Friends advent calendars to open. We will be sharing images of the new calendars every day through Christmas, and hope that you’ll join us! Let’s see what there is to open on Day 17.
From today’s Harry Potter calendar, we get a gorgeous piano set. From Star Wars, a pit droid.
Adam: A solid piano and a new design for pit droids. I’ve always wanted a keyboard piece, and the pit droid is so simple you can make more of them through other pieces in the calendar.
Bart: This little pit droid always knew he was destined to become a star musician.
CJ: The piano is a really nice little build. Something music lovers might want to keep together and move to a shelf or curio cabinet post-holiday. And it fits into a “piano by the fireplace” display in the calendar itself. The pit droid is pretty cute. So nice job, there.
Lino: Soon this Pit Droid will find his true calling once they hear his rendition of “Benny and the Jets”.
Benjamin: “Sing us a song, you’re the pit-ano droid, sing us a song tonight…”
Chris: The pit droid is nice, but that piano is actually awesome! It’s a beautiful design at this scale, though it is maybe a little small even for minifigure scale.
Flying in from the North Pole to deliver gifts is a cute little airplane from the City calendar. Friends gifts us two fun gift boxes. We’ll note again that the stand was not included.
Jasmine: Ah the plane build is fantastic! Its shape and colors are great- it really beats the one from last year’s Modular Bookshop.
CJ: I like the mix of parts in the plane! A really creative way to approach this micro vehicle. The boomerang use is particularly creative to me. I griped about the City “wrapped gift” day, and the Friends calendar feels like a needed upgrade. An actual package that can opened, and with actual little gifts inside. Totally earned that holiday point today.
Bart: A lot of nice parts usage on the plane (boomerang, little propeller).
Lino: The day started off like many others for Aaliyah…
Chris: I feel like the plane is the sort of thing I’d make when I have a box of random parts and some extra time to kill while talking on the phone. It gets higher marks on the NPU scale than it does on the “this is a good model” scale, but I still like it. And the Friends gift boxes aren’t particularly exciting, but they are useful.
Combined with other advent calendar creations, you can see Rey and Harry Potter getting a drink at the local droid cantina, only to get into a Star Wars fanon romance called “Har-rey”.
Join us on Friday for another fun advent calendar opening!

my droid’s missing the top plate thing for its head.
@Bart:
It’s an orchestra pit droid. Nobody will even see it while it’s playing.
Or, to rip off a Big Bang Theory joke, the pit droid could play the Elton John song “Rocket Man”…
@Purple Dave. By the way, you mentioned DWAC on BrickSet earlier. I never understood what you referred to.

Disney Wars Advent Calendar
@Purple Dave
Ah, thanks, I guessed it might have been a typo for Clone Wars, or something… =/
