First look at the LEGO 75288 AT-AT from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back [News]

Revealed by retailer Amazon Japan, we get a first look at The LEGO 75288 AT-AT  that comes with the label of the 40th anniversary of Star Wars Episode IV: The Empire Strikes Back. It’s been a while since an AT-AT was released at this scale with LEGO 75054 AT-AT back in 2014. It comes with 1,267 pieces, six minifigures and is scheduled to be released on Sept. 1st 2020 for US $159.99 | CAN $199.99 | UK £139.99.

The set comes in a similar scale to the LEGO 75054 AT-AT  but with an additional scaled speeder bike and a turret and with 6 minifigures, as opposed to the 5 that were included in the previous version. The additional figure is Luke Skywalker, as he grapples up to the AT-AT, the only Rebel Alliance character amongst all other figures.

I’ll probably get this, as I missed the previous one. The last one was one the way out, right when I got into the hobby/money pit that is Lego Star Wars. Not sure if there is anything special about this version, other than the 40th Empire badge on the box. I’d still love to see a UCS AT-AT.

This is gorgeous, but of all of the “first iteration” sets, 2003’s 4483 AT-AT is by far my favorite. It’s still really movie-accurate, lots of features and good build quality.

Like Andrew, I still think 4483 is the best AT-AT set. However, this one has all the updates the other AT-AT sets lacked, especially the head interior configuration. However, the legs beggar some necessary modding to flesh them out. The price is a bit much to swallow, but the AT-AT’s my favorite SW vehicle, so I’ll definitely be picking a couple of these up. Good use for the stimulus check. :P
