Welcome to Day 14 of our LEGO Advent Calendar countdown. Each day, we’ll reveal the three mini-builds from the LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Friends, and LEGO City 2018 advent calendars along with commentary from The Brothers Brick team.
If you’re opening one (or more) of these advent calendars along with us, we’ve made sure the pictures and commentary on each day’s models will be behind a jump so we don’t accidentally ruin the surprise. What pint-size surprises will be in Day 14’s prizes?
For Day 14, we have a weapons rack from Star Wars, a festive piano from Friends, and a pile of presents from City.
Dave: The Friends piano is music to my ears in comparison to the other advent calendar “filler items” like the weapons rack and the presents.
Nick: Frère Jacques is apparently now a Christmas song! And we have a gun rack, because of course. I wonder if the City folk will shake those presents and gifts, listening for the familiar rattle of fresh Danish plastic bricks.
Andrew: Pop Quiz! LEGO Star Wars weapon racks are to stud-shooters as ___ are to ___. The Friends piano further redeems that calendar after the Award Nobody Wants, aka the “Nobies” (I’m still not gonna let that one go yet).
Pop Quiz answer: LEGO Star Wars weapon racks are to stud-shooters as generic little presents are to creepy snowmen in LEGO City calendars!
Daniel: If I squint, the Star Wars weapons rack looks like a daddy reindeer to the earlier stud-shooter Rudolph. As for the Friends toy piano, the printed tile is nice, but are they going to use that plant element yet again?
Chris: The piano is pretty nifty, I have to admit. It’s got both details and Christmas elements, and it pulls it off well.
Edwinder: Friends celebrate Christmas with a lovely melody, and City folks love their presents. But there is no Christmas in space, so everyone needs to be on their toes. That’s why we need gun racks with fully charged blasters.
