Year of the Horse comes galloping along

We’re coming up on The Year of the Horse according to the Chinese New Year and LEGO builders around the globe are celebrating with their own equestrian creations. Sakiya Watanabe AKA N.A.B.E_mocs graces us with this majestic horse reared up on hind legs.

Horse

As if on a similar stride, DeRa gallops in with a fully posable horse; it even has the same coloration and similar build techniques. I like how it is delicately balanced on a stand only two studs wide. Both have me looking forward to a confidence-building 2026. And also Chinese New Year 2026 sets, which should be whinnying in soon.

Slithering into a prosperous new year with DeRa

According to the Chinese horoscope, 2025, Year of the Wood Snake, promises to be a year of prosperity and financial success, thanks to the snake’s charisma and cunning. In that spirit, builder DeRa offers a New Years’ greeting featuring the zodiac snake in a traditional motif atop a bag of gold coins. The coiled snake is definitely a charmer, but it’s the bag that has me in knots with its incredible shaping. DeRa certainly has a knack for zodiac animals. The builder’s majestic tiger made our short list for best creations of 2024.

Hoppy New Year!

We’ve highlighted both adorable animals and kinetic sports builds from Chi Hsin Wei in the past. Now, to celebrate the beginning of the new year, Chi has combined both of those talents in a build that celebrates 2023 as the Year of the Rabbit. The dynamic mid-leap pose of the rabbit is undoubtedly the centerpiece of the build. But the crescent moon bike ramp, with its inventive use of tiling and the just the right amount of high-tech greeble detail, is just as impressive.
