Say cheese, Gromit!

It’s hard to belive 35 years (245 in dog years) have gone by since Wallace and Gromit were first molded by Nick Park’s thumbs and a great cinematic friendship was born. Now the happy couple are up for another Oscar and builder byggi_l is here to capture their special charm in LEGO. Mixel eyes are perfect for bringing life to the duo’s plasticine faces. I especially love Gromit’s brows made from inverted bake-o-lite hotdog buns.

A cracking build of Wallace & Gromit’s Austin A35

Wallace and Gromit have tried many business ventures over their storied career. Whether the job calls for trapping rabbits, doling out dough, or wrangling smart gnomes, their trusty Austin A35 van always delivers. Isaac Wilder is something of a madcap genius in his own right, only instead of cracking inventions, Isaac’s specialty is uncannily-accurate vintage cars in LEGO. Here Isaac recreates Wallace’s iconic ride, decked out with decals from the ~~evil~~ inventor’s latest venture from Vengeance Most Foul. Isaac’s attention to detail is admirable, going so far as to offset the wings by half a stud to match the subtle bulge of the original. Isaac pairs the car with a brick-built take on Norbot, the chipper AI-powered garden gnome who definitely couldn’t be hacked for nefarious purposes.

Aardman Animation LEGO creations have popped up on The Brothers Brick a couple times in the past, namely Shaun the sheep and a particularly grand day out.

This time German builder Andreas Weissenberg gives us A Close Shave.

The intrepid window-washer/inventor/cheese-lover Wallace is joined by his trusty, mute, heroic pup pal Gromit. The characters’ distinctive looks are not only executed well, but this model also conceals some compact motorized functionality within the motorbike and sidecar! Recently we featured Palixa and the Bricks’ brilliant BrickHeadz renditions of the cast of Futurama. This time around they’ve turned their hand to the Aardman Animations’ classic Shaun the Sheep.

Get off me cheese!

MisaQa builds wonderful little animals, but I never expected a recent batch of fantastic Wallace & Gromit creations. What’s so great about these is that they totally capture the unique, instantly recognizable sensibility of the original clay sculptures by Aardman Animations.
