There are 23 days remaining until the close of this year’s Colossal Castle Contest over at Classic Castle! Let me tell you–I don’t envy the judges. There are some fantastic creations. Here are just a few:
The Pastoral Life Category – Walking The Goats (David Leest)
Fairy Tale Category – Humpty Dumpty (DarkTemplar)
Mythical Battle Category – Attack of the Skeleton Horde (ACPin)
It might not be my dream home, but I can appreciate the influences and sleek lines in Zack (NewRight)’s dream home. All it needs, according to him, are the pretty dolls.
Considering it looks like it should be perched in the hills of southern California, I’d have to say his assessment probably isn’t far off the mark.

I can tell you where I’ll be going when I need the services of a forge. This creation is simply stunning. I’m partial to the look of 1×1 and 1×2 plates used to emulate stone; the chimney here is a gorgeous example.
All of the details here, really, are just wonderful. I see something new every time I look. What’s your favorite part about this forge?

Another entry to Classic-Castle‘s Colossal Contest, busboy489’s Castle Hadrian is so full of rich detail that it’s difficult to begin to point them out. There’s the drawbridge, the lovely tree in the lower corner, the wall detailing, the interesting architecture and angles…I’d say just go ahead and stare at it for a while. You’ll be glad you did.
An entry for Classic-Castle’s Colossal Contest VIII, Mr. Johnathon Gilbert‘s creation showcases the hard work and diligence of the Castle Health, Improvement, & Maintenance People (C.H.I.M.P.).
That’s a lot of destruction and havoc to fix up, but I’m quite sure the CHIMPs are up to it.
Rod Gillies‘ entry to Classic-Castle’s Mini Castle Contest is simply fantastic. The techniques he uses are wonderful–the Exoforce hair as a deciduous, Technic pins as crops. But what REALLY catches my eye is the mini tudors. They just…work.
I’ve been a fan of Morgan190‘s custom minifig work for quite some time. He doesn’t simply customize a minifigure–he creates works of art.
So I’m completely excited to keep an eye on his Halloween Advent adventure, with a new minifigure each day of October:
I gotta say that Mira Bankava is my favorite so far.
While it’s not quite “stopping by woods on a snowy evening,” it’s still poetic. Classic-Castle member LegoLord posted this lovely castle in the snow. It’s not particularly big, and that’s okay. The walls grab me and I like the tan/brown combo on the tower.
Whenever I try and build when I’m bored, the results aren’t post-worthy. But this is clearly not the case for David Leest. His “bored” creations are clearly much better than mine.
That said, I really like this particular creation of his. I like the multi-level, bright colored goodness. It has enough implied movement to keep my eye wandering, and that works for me.
The entries for Classic-Castle‘s Mini Castle Contest VI are starting to crop up, including Rod Gillies‘s study of Atlantis before the whole sinking incident. The whole thing is just gorgeous and completely captures a water-front city in its heyday.
Remind me never to go to Azaghal‘s private island for dinner. I’m not quite sure I could stomach what’s on the menu. Not at all.
Bananas in soup is just too much for me.
There’s something just…happy about this advertisement. Made by Temujin Doran, the posting on Vimeo states it “uses pieces from the stash my brother and I used to play with when we were younger, so perhaps it looks a bit dated compared with modern day Lego. Dated, but still great.”
