Build your own working Lego ballista

Jason Allemann has come up with a design for Lego ballista that can launch a 2×4 brick 15 feet (which will let you hit almost any target in even the biggest dioramas). The best part is that he has posted step-by-step instructions for you to build your own. Time to get ready for battle!

Symphony of Construction contest

Symphony of Construction is a telephone game that alternates between the mediums of LEGO and music. Already 3 rounds have produced interesting results, and now it’s your turn show us your creativity of interpretation. Check out the Symphony of Construction contest, where you have until March 1st to build a creation inspired by a piece of music and possibly win one of four LEGO gift certificates donated by The Brothers Brick.

Take a look at a sample of the works from the most recent round:

A face on the wall

This sculpture by Lars Kumpfert captures the 3-dimensional shape of a face protruding from a seemingly elastic surface. Check out the creation photographed from other angles on Flickr.

An incredible machine of dominoes and rolling balls

This Rube Goldberg machine by Christian Bechinie showcases an elegantly designed ball contraption surrounded by brick-built dominoes. Check out the entertaining video and see it all in motion.

Tequila Tuk-Tuk

What’s the best way to deliver tequila to the masses on a distant planet? Pico van Grootveld (Brixnspace) presents the Tequilatron Tuk Tuk to get the job done, and it even features a portable parasol and table.

Radiating mystique

This bust of an enchantress by Mihai Marius Mihu radiates an aura of mystique. The use of the blue blades on the face is superb.

KABOOM!

Grant Davis captures the exact moment of an explosion in his latest castle creation based on the siege of Helms Deep from Lord of the Rings. If you’re curious to see how the creation is built, visit MOCpages to for more.

At the foot of the fortress

This display by Lukasz Wiktorowicz uses a castle wall as a perfectly natural backdrop. The angled section of the build plays a key role of breaking up the linearity of the creation.

Ye old windmill

David Hensel (Legonardo Davidy) creates a detailed windmill with spinning blades and rotating tower. I really like the blend of sand green and olive green bricks for the base as well as its spherical shape.

Open for business

The Blue Shield Inn by Halhi141 is situated on top of a hill by a gentle creek, but something about the scenery seems ominous. Check out the accompanying story along with more photos on MOCpages.

Lego zoetrope depicts fighting ninjas

I’m a fan of seeing new concepts in Lego creations such as a working zoetrope by Ian Spacek. The viewer rotates the cylinder and peers through the slots to see the sequence of animated images.
