About Luka

Luka is a Slovenian LEGO builder and a member of Kocke Klub. He is most well known for building dragons, but does not shy away from other themes when time is right. In the community he goes by Deus "Big D." Otiosus (D. stands for "Destiny") and has been around for quite a few years. He is one of those builders who went through their life without a dark age. Besides LEGO he is a biology student that wastes a lot of time in the local forest or in interesting urban areas. MOC Pages Flickr Bricksafe Youtube

A whale... that is also an island!

I love how insane and magical this whale island by Delayice is. The rounded shapes, which are notoriously hard to capture with LEGO bricks, are done perfectly. What I love the most are the colourful trees peeking from behind the mountain and the waterfall flowing off of the whale. The builder does not provide any information on the inspiration, but I could easily imagine this creature in a fairytale or an anime.

A brick-built bouquet fit for a bride

In a world of spaceships, castles and mecha it can be unclear that LEGO building is a form of art. This is why we have builders like Felix Jaensch, who remind us of the artistic potential of LEGO. The flowers are arranged perfectly with just enough imperfections to look natural. The only part that looks off to me are the leaves, but I do admit it is hard to make them look realistic.

Felix is well known for his simplistic style, mostly using only bricks and plates to accomplish complex shapes, with some of his best work featuring a life sized LEGO mummy, a blue and gold macaw and more recently a very cute red panda. If you like LEGO art, Felix is surely a builder you’ll want to follow.

Merry Christmas from this classic Ford pickup truck

We all know Jordanian builder Firas Abu-Jaber as a great car builder, but for me, the star of the show this time is the great Christmas tree in the trunk. The perfect cone shape and the vibrant colours of the decoration make for great eye candy. And the photo’s angle just adds to all of that. This LEGO creation captures both the holiday spirit and the aesthetic of classic cars perfectly (the red colour of the car helps a lot!).

The builder also provides a photo of the pickup truck in a very festive environment, being surrounded by gifts and Christmas icons:
