Well since Josh trumped me on “Lady” I better respond… Cale Leiphardt presents this lovely Reading B4a steam shunter. The stickers are very high quality too. I’m not sure I’ve blogged Cale here before but he has an impressive range of 8-wide steam trains made out of Lego. His style is quite original and highly successful.

Fastest train in the new South
Melbourne AFOL Teunis Davies defies the usual cross-border rivalry and presents this excellent NSW Class 38 streamlined steam train. It’s a seven-stud wide machine of clever building techniques and sleek design. As an added bonus he includes many breakdown shots so we can all see how it is made.
Now if only LEGO would release regular green mini slopes…
To boldly bounce...
Sorry to stray from my usual territory but I had to highlight this one… Brickshelf user Olog (edit: Florea Adrian on flickr and presumably real life) creates an incredible moon rover for Aaron Sneary’s Moon Rover contest. The inverted tyres are great but my favourite part is using some old weird springy parts from soccer sets to do the suspension. Brilliant parts use.
I can’t believe it’s not butter
Brickshelf user Shaggie has done an amazingly high quality render of a town scene involving misterzumbi’s Fiat126p design. This is certainly one of the most realistic LEGO renders I’ve seen.
A bike, a car and a coupla trains
I’ve been pretty buildy lately so I’m just throwing a bunch of stuff here. The Hotrod and Bike are variants of misterzumbi and mijasper‘s models but the others are me having colourful fun. Also in my Flickr stream (may contain disliked language).
Hien’s Hayate... better late than never
Brickshelf builder HIEN has come up with (well did come up with… it’s really rather late to post about) what I’d consider one of, if not the, best small scale WWII planes in LEGO. The entire thing is a big ball of complex genius and I, for one, am sold.
Eau de Cologne
There must be something in the water in the Cologne area because derjoe, a sometimes collaborator with misterzumbi, seems to be producing motor vehicles of equally high calibre. His NYPD team are just spectacular
Aeroplane
The train to Legoland...
…well maybe not, but certainly from Denmark. Henrik Thrane has created a series of absolutely brilliant Danish trains for a museum. The quality of the imagery on the side of the one I used as a picture here blows me away but they’re all brilliant. For those less familiar with the finer points of LEGO I should also note that the dark blue colour is a horrible one to work with making these even better.
Just out of town
Jeramy Spurgeon has a fantastic layout module under work at the moment. He manages a very natural semi-urban feel with just the right amount of curves and layers.
One night in Bangkok
BS user Pongsit has posted pictures of an enormous LEGO Suvarnabhumi Airport. Not sure if this is fan made or official but it’s certainly very impressive.
EDIT: Hippotam from Kkocki.blox.pl has tracked down some more information here (in Polish and English)
Who is RACHAL?
RACHAL (RAytracing CHALlenge) is a challenge we run on ldraw.org where various people render the same virtual LEGO creation (typically a vignette like scene). The point of it is to allow people to challenge themselves on rendering a shared LEGO scene adding their own technical and artistic interpretations. The first one has just finished and it’s really fascinating to see how various people approach the same source material. If you like it you may also like its predeccesor that I ran early last year called “Remix Lenin”.
