Nature reclaims all as Vignette Week comes to a close [Feature]

Bricks down! After seven grueling days of non-stop building, RebelLUG’s Vignweek 2025 has come to an end. The first five challenges gave builders just 24 hours to create a LEGO vignette around the daily theme, but for the final challenge, builders could take 48 hours. This time the theme was “Reclaimed by Nature,” which is the perfect excuse to pull out those bins of leaf parts and create something beautiful. As the Vignette builders break out their brick separators, let’s take a stroll through an overgrown LEGO world with some of our favorites of the day.

FS Leinad participated in all six builds, but his final creation is my favorite. The orangutan is a great design (per the builder, “RIP 3-in-1 Forest Animals) but it’s those vultures that have stolen my heart… and pick it apart with those brilliant hook beaks.

Concrete Jungle

ILB Creations completed 5 challenges and also ends on a high note. I love the larger scale and the light blue mortar between crumbling bricks.

Vignweek 2025 Day 6-7: Reclaimed by nature

Carson Lacy made it through the week without missing a beat. Carson confidently employs a mix of leaf colors and shapes in a soothing medieval scene. The brick-built stag is great.

A Walk in the Woods

Carter Witz drops in for the final round with this serene scene in a golden wood where the dagger of time awaits.

Getting an Upgrade

Mork Builds ends the Vignweek streak with a slick temple gate lost to time. The vignette base is to shelf bricking and the composition is expertly balanced.

Joël Jurg has enriched our appreciation for aesthetics and history on 5 of the challenges by sticking to builds inspired by the ancient world. This Roman bathhouse offers a glimpse of the Empire’s splendor after it’s decline but before the millennia would wear it down.

Syrdarian hasn’t skipped a beat, moving straight from Summer Jousting to building for all 6 Vignweek challenges. His final scene is gorgeous, especially when cropped as an immersive scene.

Urban Jungle

NikiFilik brough a touch of whimsy to all 6 challenges. I appreciate the range of scales the builder worked with, especially this reclaimed PC at roughly 1/4 scale.

Sleep Mode

Erin Dempsey joins the six-for-six club, ending on a colorful note with this overgrown pickup in the woods.

Leo 1 works with a similar interpretation of the theme with this compact vignette. The builder completed 5 challenges.

The old pickup

buillding_after_dark wasn’t afraid to go bold and weird in any of  their six entries. They end on a tranquil note with this overgrown fountain in the jungle that employs great techniques for the grass and bamboo.

Mateusz Kozicki appears to have only joined Instagram this week! This new face in the AFOL scene created 3 Vignweek builds, ending with this pleasing brick-yellow tower in decay.

For the Three Little Mice, building is a family affair. The Eldest mouse shares this medieval tower being reclaimed by the forest.

Castle Fortunia

CRCT Productions completes a perfect streak of incredibly detailed builds. Both the tree and the sci-fi structure are ace designs. Please take a week to sleep!

Reclaimed by Nature

Grant Decker joins the six day club with a return to a favorite theme – the Lord of the Rings – specifically at the crossroads of the fallen king in Return of the King.

"The King has got his crown again!"

Jake Forbes was also inspired by Lord of the Rings. Oh, hey, that’s me! After rounding up all of these amazing builds, I had to join in for the final challenge. I’ve been thinking about playing with a “Sixth Age” of Middle-Earth exploring more modern version of the setting where age of men has passed and Elves start returning.

Fangorn Park

Greenarj returns with a sixth build that finds ways to innovate with a familiar trope. The mushroom designs up top are a favorite detail, but I also like how the tree weaves through windows while leaving the structure more or less intact.

Fungal growth

We conclude our coverage of Vignweek with this poetic final creation from Casey (lambbricks), another six day build completionist. Casey titles this one “The Music Will Live on,” which is a great sentiment to end on.
