2023 LEGO Advent Calendars, Day 8 [Feature]

Do you hear that, readers? That’s the sound of Christmas getting ever closer! And what better way to count down to the big day than with day 8 of TBB’s LEGO advent calendar roundup? That’s just what we’re doing, so why not join us as we open up the City, Friends, Star Wars, Harry Potter and Marvel calendars on offer this year?

As ever, our intrepid TBB team is on hand with witty comments, insightful observations, and bad jokes for each day’s builds. And of course, you can add your own thoughts in the comments section each day! So without further ado, let’s crack open the build for day 8…

Sometimes we get builds that link across multiple days, and today’s Friends build looks like it clips into day 2’s archway. It reminds me of the hoop obstacles that you see at dog shows. The City door hides a lamppost.

Street furniture is the order of the day in Harry Potter too, with a sign pointing us towards Hogwarts. This might be the only Star Wars set this year to feature a battle droid, but it’s still just a battle droid. I love the Iron Man-themed reindeer though!

Ben: Day 8, a means to day 9…

Bart: Iron Rudolph here to save the day!

Kyle: Iron Rudolph? I’m pretty sure that’s Dasher, Mark VII. This gets my vote today.

I see where we’re headed now with an animal-themed Friends calendar. Great idea, but not a great execution. Needs more habitats and less “obstacle course.”

Lino: It’s not too late to switch to one of those booze bottle advent calendars. C’mon, guys, let’s do that!

Daniel: Oh great, another battle droid… And we finally have a use for the gold web effects… Which I still think should have been white. The Hogwarts sign is pretty meh, and could have had brighter colors.

Daniel’s comment there is referring to a call-out on the Marvel calendar door, which indicates that some of Spidey’s web pieces can double as golden pine trees with today’s snow mounds. Tony Stark is getting his own little Iron Man themed forest it seems.
