2022 LEGO Advent Calendars, Day 19

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Yes, it’s the holiday season, but it’s also the return of our annual LEGO advent calendar extravaganza. We’ll be opening our calendar windows  every day in the run-up to Christmas. Our team will also share their thoughts, comments, observations and jokes about each day’s builds!

We have five advent calendars this year, across the City, Friends, Star Wars, Marvel (specifically Guardians of the Galaxy) and Harry Potter themes. Let’s get right into it and see what’s hiding behind the doors of day 19, shall we?

A gentleman called Mr Produce awaits us in the City calendar. Friends has a collection of accessories for day 17’s reindeer with a hay bale, show-jump hurdle and another present.

Our snowtrooper gets some backup in the form of a miniature AT-ST (or chicken walker, if we’re being pedantic) for Star Wars today. The Harry Potter build wasn’t immediately obvious to me at first, but it’s Hagrid’s rocket-powered motorcycle and sidecar. Speaking of loveable sidekicks – teenage Groot comes out of the Guardians of the Galaxy door with his smartphone.

Ben: The HP bike is lovely, very fun and a nice nod to Hagrid especially with the recent sad news [Robbie Coltrane’s passing earlier this year]. The AT-ST is great and could imagine a microscale scene with these. I am enjoying these Hoth builds, for something that’s arguably been ‘done’ there are certainly a few refreshing builds coming through.

I thought the Friends build was London’s Tower Bridge in Christmas colours…!

Kyle: That AT-ST is pretty sweet. Probably my favourite of the 5 today.

Chris: None of today’s builds are bad, but that microscale AT-ST takes the cake. It’s perfect. I want to build a whole diorama around it now.

Bart: Day 19 is a good day for all calendars if you ask me.

CJ: A nice level of printing on both minifigures today. Groot is nifty, but I think that greengrocer is going to see more widespread use in fan builds.

Now that Chris and Ben have mentioned it, I quite fancy building myself a tiny imperial walker army with these AT-STs…
