It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Yes, it’s the holiday season, but it’s also the return of our annual LEGO advent calendar extravaganza. We’ll be opening our calendar windows every day in the run-up to Christmas. Our team will also share their thoughts, comments, observations, and jokes about each day’s builds!
We have five advent calendars this year, across the City, Friends, Star Wars, Marvel (specifically Guardians of the Galaxy), and Harry Potter themes. Let’s get right into it and see what’s hiding behind the doors of day 2, shall we?
Today’s offering from Friends is a toy-makers bench, complete with a space rocket. We have our first minifigure from the City calendar – a young chap named Billy according to the box.
We also get a minifigure in the Star Wars calendar, in the form of the clone commander who appeared in both the UCS Republic Gunship and the elusive clone accessory pack. Harry Potter gives us some Quidditch hoops. In the Guardians of the Galaxy calendar, Peter Quill gets an early Christmas present with some headphones for his Walkman.
Daniel: The HP build could be a good start if they include more pitch later.
Bart: The Walkman is amazing!
Ben: The GotG Walkman and kit are great, as is the Friends rocket offering. The Quidditch arena needs a little more, well, arena.
Chris: I’m always a sucker for a Saturn V model, so Friends gets the win this week. Starlord’s Walkman is also pretty great, and I think the miniature Quidditch pitch is pretty solid given the scale. The team colours are a nice touch.
Kyle: The Friends set is definitely the most seasonal of the five, what that Saturn-alia rocket.
CJ: A good mix of stuff today, particularly the Wakandan weapons rack. (Oh wait, that’s HP again isn’t it? Never mind.)
As well as the standard calendar builds, every now and then we’ll throw in some bonus pictures, showing what happens when advent calendar universes collide. Our clone commander clearly needs to brush up on his knowledge of Quidditch rules…
