2021 LEGO Advent Calendars, Day 3

Happy holidays to all of our fellow LEGO builders! As is tradition, we at The Brothers Brick will be opening our advent calendars as we count down to Christmas. We’ll also be sharing commentary on each one, which we hope will provide insight and hilarity to your holiday season!

This year we have new Harry Potter, Star Wars, Marvel, City and Friends advent calendars to open. We will be sharing images of the new calendars every day through Christmas, and hope that you’ll join us! Let’s see what there is to open on Day 3.

Today’s builds feature a stormtrooper from Star Wars, a fireplace from Harry Potter, and what looks like maybe the Avenger’s headquarters from Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame.

For City, we opened a fancy lamp post with the North Pole pole. Friends was surprisingly another microdoll with a similar present and stocking that we saw on Day 1.

Adam: It took me a while to figure out what the fireplace was when I was building the calendar, but it’s actually a really fun element of the game. You can drop letters into the top opening and they come shooting out the bottom, which, I assume, are Harry’s acceptance letters to Hogwarts.

Chris: What’s the striped pole with the diamond supposed to be? It’s not a light, because the light is on the other post. Just a decorative candy cane yard ornament?

CJ: I assumed it was meant to be the “actual” north pole. Also, is that a meta-joke about the “giant blue beam shooting into the sky” ending to most superhero films? It looks cute, and clearly is going to be built on as the month progresses. The north pole build is even less clear – why would a letter be stuck to a lampost? At least the Friends minidoll has a very cute outfit.

Bart: Another sleeping bag! I want to join in on this slumber party!

Daniel: I guess that Marvel scene is supposed to be the station at Avenger’s tower that held Loki’s scepter, but the base looks like it came from Tony’s Malibu workshop.

Good times for Day 3. Tomorrow we’ll be moving on to Day 4, so don’t miss it!

Looks like the avengers wreath is another festive add on to the hall of armor set(s) that have recently been released. Pretty neat that they are continuing to tie those in and could fit a section (albeit rather small) into the advent calendar!

There seems to be some confusion about the Marvel build. If you have either the Iron Man Hall of Armor or Iron Man Armory, today’s build clips into those sections (the base construction is identical).

SPOILER ALERT: looking ahead, there are a few more builds that appear to go nicely into a Hall of Armor scene.
