LEGO Ideas space-themed contest results announced [News]

LEGO Ideas blog has just published the results of the most recent building competition. The Out of this World Space Builds contest was all about spaceships and space exploration, with entries between 150 and 250-piece large. First, the panel of judges evaluated all the entries based on their originality, use of elements, and other criteria. The 15 entries selected by the judges proceeded to the fan vote stage. The winning entry will be turned into the next LEGO Ideas gift-with-purchase set, so today, we learned what to expect in LEGO stores next.


Here are the winners of the fan vote:

1st place — The Adventures of the USS Cardboard by bulldoozer (2869 votes)

2nd place — The Classic Space Logo by FSLeinad (2158 votes)

3rd place — URSA MAJOR by john_carter (1416 votes)

4th place — The Journey of an Astronaut by Chris221 (1085 votes)

5th place — Mars Research Bio-dome by ABStract (1071 votes)

6th place — Bob’s Unexpected Space Adventure by BrickHammer (1035 votes)

This is not the first contest with the winning entry being turned into a gift-with-purchase set. For instance, the 40448 Vintage Car set was based on Arne Jahnke’s winning entry for the Build a Vintage Car for Modular Streets contest.
