LEGO reveals 12 new sets from Speed Champions, TLM2, and Technic, including 42100 Liebherr R 9800 mining excavator [News]

Today, LEGO revealed for the first time the rest of the summer and early fall 2019 sets across a variety of themes. The sets were published in a Dutch edition of the July-December official product catalog. The newly revealed sets span Disney’s Frozen, Speed Champions, The LEGO Movie 2, Minecraft, and Technic. The standouts are the new Technic sets, including 42100 Liebherr R 9800, a model of one of the world’s largest mining excavators. The enormous set will be app controlled, and includes a whopping 7 Powered Up! motors. There’s no word on specific pricing or part counts yet, but we’ll be sure to bring you that info when it’s available. Check out the new sets below.

LEGO Disney’s Frozen 43172 Elsa’s Magical Ice Palace

Elsa’s Ice Palace is the X-wing of the Disney Princess universe, with versions having appeared in 2015 and not once but twice in 2017. Now it’s time for the fourth one, which upon closer inspection is actually identical to the large one from 2017, set 41148. It seems that LEGO is re-releasing the set with a new set number.

The LEGO Movie 2 70849 Wyldstyle’s Starfighter (top)

LEGO isn’t quite done with The LEGO Movie 2. Although the movie is already out on DVD, LEGO is continuing to trickle out sets from the film. Three new sets grace this late summer wave, starting with Wyldstyle’s sleek starfighter.

The LEGO Movie 2 70847 Good Morning, Sparkle Babies

Don’t have enough spring in your step? Or enough glitter-covered baby minifigures? This tiny set is aiming to fix both, plus provide a bit of ultra-colorful flora.

The LEGO Movie 2 70848 Systar System Party Team

It’s time to get the party started with this raucous bunch. Unikitty, Benny, and Metalbeard are all decked out in their star-studded bedazzledest.

LEGO Speed Champions 75895 1974 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.0 (top middle)

This new Speed Champions set is a standalone white version of the classic 911 Turbo that came in lime green in set 75888. When we reviewed that set, we loved this design, so while there appears to be nothing new here beyond the color, it’s great to see the iconic car being sold by itself.

LEGO Minecraft 21153 The Sheep Farm (top left)

Want more colors of Minecraft sheep? Boy, have we got the set for you. The Sheep Farm even includes a giant sheep, as giant versions of creatures has become a running trope with LEGO Minecraft sets, much as it has in the game.

LEGO Minecraft 21133 The Creeper (top right)

If you ever needed a giant LEGO creeper, look no further. The large new set includes a significant chunk of terrain along with a giant creeper. It remains to be seen if it explodes or not.

LEGO Minecraft 21154 The Blaze Bridge (bottom left)

Get ready to journey back into the Nether with this set, which includes two blazes, a wither skeleton, and a brewing stand. You’ll also get a slice of terrain with a bridge.

LEGO Technic 42099 RC X-treme Off-roader (left)

This huge new monster truck is powered and app-controlled via Powered Up! Featuring three motors and some interesting app functionality that allows the app to sense the wheels’ leveling, we’re eager to get our hands on this and try out its performance.

LEGO Technic 42100 Liebherr R 9800 (right)

The huge Liebherr R 9800 is among the largest, most complicated machines ever to come from the Technic theme. With seven motors and a massive new bucket scoop element, the Liebherr will be app-controlled and fully programmable. The set’s seven Powered Up! motors include three XLs and four Ls.

LEGO Technic 42098 Car Transporter (top right)

Following up last year’s immensely popular 42078 Mack Anthem semi truck, LEGO is returning to the big rig theme with this unbranded car transporter, complete with a blue muscle car that’s roughly the same scale as the 42093 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (top middle). It seems a safe bet that both cars will fit on the trailer.

LEGO Technic 42097 Compact Crawler Crane (bottom right)

LEGO Technic loves its cranes, and now there’s a new one in town in the form of this tracked crane. Marked by huge outrigger stabilizers, the yellow crane may not be the biggest LEGO crane ever, but it’s still far from small.

Plenty of other upcoming sets also appear in the catalog, most of which we’ve already seen revealed. And even though it’s not featured in the catalog, be sure to check out the huge new Jurassic Park set revealed today, 75936 Jurassic Park: T. rex Rampage.

that white porsche is… odd? i think people would have rather had a stand-alone mini in racing green if they were going this route. by “people” i mean “me.” i’m people. has lego done a straight-up recolor before?
that car transport is really tempting. further, it makes technic corvette more attractive, just so i can have another car to fill out the trailer.
in conclusion, i need more monies.

A white 1974 911 Turbo is iconic. Neon green is them just having fun. Releasing the standalone in white makes the most sense.

Wondering about the ‘new’ 911. The build looks identical to 75888. Seems like an extremely lazy move by TLG. I’m sure the German market will be pleased tho.
