One stellar ship on patrol

The latest custom spaceship by Builder Caleb Ricks is a blend between classic shuttles and futuristic spacecraft. Creatively connected pieces build a practically seamless model straight from Caleb’s imagination but clearly inspired by a particular Christopher Nolan film. The USSC Interstellar is a patrol ship charged with keeping watch over various regions of space. This vessel from the United States Space Core scopes the cosmos for activity amongst the plethora of planets, stars, and nebulae that it encounters on its patrols.

We used to build LEGO spaceships and wonder at our place in the stars

Going by the latest reports, Christopher Nolan’s long-awaited Tenet will finally hit big screens less than a month. While we still wait, it might be the best time to re-watch another movie by one of the greatest directors of our time. CheeseyStudios suggests the 2014 epic sci-fi Interstellar. His build of The Endurance spaceship is much more complicated than it looks. Note it consists of 12 sections, which means that the angle between them is 150 degrees. Caleb managed to find just the right piece for this task, giant flex joints.

And if you are interested in the design of the Ranger shuttle, note a brilliant use of ninja swords. Thanks to the curved swords, the otherwise somewhat blocky model becomes very recognizable.

Rage, rage against the dying of the light

It was apparently an Interstellar sort of evening last night. In composing my last post, I ran across some other things I wanted to share, which conveniently finishes the first stanza of Dylan Thomas’s beautiful poem.

It’s no secret that we here at TBB are big fans of Interstellar. Given a choice, we might even replace the Lemur with TARS.

We’ve seen jp_velociraptor‘s beautiful Ranger, and he’s posted a follow up with the Lander vehicle in just as much stunning detail.

If you haven’t already, I would also highly recommend securing your copy of the movie, which releases on Tuesday, March 31. You can support TBB by reserving Interstellar on Amazon.
