Greebly and bulbous. I think that accurately describes this ship by Robert H. But that gives you no concept of how striking this ship really is. Check it out. It’s cool.

Midnight Dragon
This beast was built Jacob Unterreiner and has a very striking and menacing feel to it. I love the color scheme, as I’m an old school Blacktron fan, but this whole build just screams evil.
The cavalry is coming
Apparently this cruiser by Vince Toulouse has been around for awhile, but I missed it and it has some rather cool components. The overall shape is one that we don’t see a lot, using pieces that almost everyone refuses to touch…the giant floor pieces from the old Sports sets. But they look really good here. Also I really like the cavalry flag on the side. Very nice touch.
Hackfish by Stafford
Greetings, cat!
What’s interesting about many of the entries for the Ma.K Starfighter Contest is that many builders profess a prior unfamiliarity with the source material. As Shannon Sproule says, “It’s always good to widen one’s library of inspiration.”
There be Pirates
This sleek pirate starfighter is coming for you and yours. You’ve been warned. LegoDrome unleashed it. Blame him.
Rocketing to Numereji
BrickCon, the LEGO fan convention in Seattle September 29th through October 2nd, is fast approaching and we’d like to invite convention exhibitors to participate in The Brothers Brick’s collaborative display: Numereji 2421.
We have a nice backstory worked out, but the concept is simply a space frontier town 400 years in the future. Isolated crash survivors reconnect with their space traveling home culture.
No worries about making it fit the display parameters perfectly, we’ll have fun figuring out how to make it work.
We’ll be offering prizes in four categories:
Best Overall Creation
Best Landscape Feature
Best Building
Best Vehicle
Brandon Bannerman, the writer of our backstory, has also posted pictures of cutaway sections of the centerpiece crashed ship, The Howland, which he’s building so that you can get a better idea of the ship’s shape and structure in order to build partial sections of wreckage or buildings from ship scrap if you’d like. I’m going to build a barn for giant lizards based on this shape.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask them here or in the Numereji Flickr Group. Also, don’t forget to fill out a MOC card on the BrickCon attendee page.
If you’re looking for inspiration, we tried to include plenty in our “Building New Howland” post. I’ve been especially motivated by the art of Robh Ruppel, and watching Firefly.
Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
A plague of LOCUST
A VV-308 LOCUST, that is. This incredible fighter, by Nate DeCastro is a thing of beauty. The sleekness is something that many builders try and few achieve. Nate achieved it…and then some.

The Ragged Edge
Grandpappy’s mouth
Nathan (The Grandpappy) has more than put his bricks where his mouth is with an excellent two vehicle set. It looks like it’s got a touch of Exo-Force and a touch of Space Police III, and it’s definitely got a touch of class.
U.E.F. Expeditionary Strike Group
As most LEGO builders do, I’ve been through several non-building funks over the course of the last 10 years or so. Andrew Lee suggested to me once that a good way to get going again is to try building a little microspace fleet. Fearing I wouldn’t get unblocked before BrickCon in just a few short weeks, I did just that. Turns out Andrew gives very good advice.
My “Expeditionary Strike Group” consists of an Escort Carrier, Destroyer, and Gunboat. I set out to build them with a fairly utilitarian aesthetic, but in retrospect it’s clear I’ve spent quite a bit of time immersed in the BSG / Halo / Star Wars universes. I’ve tried building a space carrier in microscale several times, but this is my first completed vessel.
The carrier was built around the weird engines on the back, while the Destroyer mimics the shape of the Carrier:
