LEGO Shop reduces free shipping threshold to $35, gives away Classic Castle knight in July [News]

The LEGO Shop online has just reduced its free shipping threshold from $75 to $35, and in July they’re giving away a Classic Castle knight to all LEGO VIPS with purchases over $50.

LEGO Classic Castle knight on LEGO Shop online

Hitting both the $35 and $50 minimum is easy this month with the release of some great new sets. 75828 Ecto-1 & 2 retails for $60 and includes 6 minifigs with 556 parts. Read our review, and it will  also be this month’s TBB LEGO giveaway.

10253 Big Ben retails for $250 and includes 4163 pieces (you can read our recommendation in our review from a few weeks ago).

The LEGO Shop is also making room for the summer sets by discounting a number of great sets, with some cool promotions this month. VIP program members get free shipping on all orders over only $35 rather than the usual $75, with a cool LEGO City fountain on orders over $75

Lots of sets are on sale, though the highlight for many of our readers is probably the LEGO Ideas set The Big Bang Theory (in case you didn’t pick it up after our review last year).

If you haven’t joined the VIP program yet, you can earn an extra 100 points toward a future discount. Click the banner below to see all the details about this month’s promos.

LEGO Star Wars sales & deals for May the 4th 2016 [News]

The LEGO Shop online has just kicked off their annual “May the 4th” Star Wars celebration.

The Force Awakens poster
LEGO is offering the following deals and freebies:

  • Free shipping on all orders (not just over $75)
  • Double VIP points on all LEGO Star Wars purchases
  • Free First Order Stormtrooper minifig polybag
  • Free The Force Awakens poster (shown above) with all LEGO Star Wars purchases

LEGO sent me the stormtrooper and the poster last week, and both are lovely. The stormtrooper has a unique torso print (which you can see in the image below) with a bracket for the back, to which the printed 1×1 tile from the jetpack stormtrooper is attached (with an extra 1×1 tile in the polybag).

The new 75098 Assault on Hoth was released this week, and a bunch of LEGO Star Wars sets are also on sale, including the lovely 75094 Shuttle Tyderium and the 75140 Resistance Troop Transporter I reviewed before the movie came out.

As always, when you click through from Brothers-Brick.com, a portion of each sale goes to support The Brothers Brick (at no additional cost to you).

21302 Big Bang Theory was one of our best-reviewed sets of 2015, and you can pick it up for $47.98 rather than the quite spendy $59.99.

Many of the LEGO sets that never actually showed up on January 1st are finally starting to show up online and in stores, including Collectible Minifigures Series 15, NEXO Knights, and others. At the same time, Amazon and the LEGO Shop have discounted many earlier sets.

First off, nearly all LEGO Dimensions Fun Packs remain 50% off at $7.49 from Amazon.com, including the brand new ones released this week.

LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack 40% off & Level Packs 33% off at Amazon [News]

If you’ve been procrastinating on picking up LEGO Dimensions hoping for a deal on the admittedly rather ridiculous price tag for a game, the base LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack is 40% off at Amazon.com today for all consoles. To sweeten the deal, several of the Level Packs that unlock new character abilities as well as new areas are about a third off as well.

LEGO Dimensions on Amazon.com

My favorite Level Pack is from Portal 2, featuring Chell, a Weighted Companion Cube, and a Turret. The Portal level and corresponding home world include new, original dialog by both Ellen McLain voicing GlaDOS and Stephen Merchant voicing Wheatley. While the puzzles are certainly not the braintwisters of the “real” Portal games, I’d go as far as to call it “Portal 2.5” — quite enjoyable.

LEGO Dimensions Portal 2 Level Pack

The Back to the Future Level Pack includes Marty, a hover board, and a DeLorean. The main level itself (excluding the separate Hill Valley home world area) took me all of about 20 minutes to complete, but it does include newly recorded dialog voiced by Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd.

Finally, the mildly amusing but mostly forgettable Simpsons Level Pack includes Homer, his car, and the Simpsons family TV. Dan Castellaneta does seem to have voiced a handful of original lines, but he seems to be the only actor with any new/added dialog in the Simpsons level, resulting in a terrifyingly silent Springfield…

Cyber Monday LEGO deals from Amazon [News]

Amazon.com is declaring the whole week “Cyber Monday Week,” which is probably the only good sort of week composed entirely of Mondays. In addition to the two batches of Black Friday LEGO deals we posted last week, Amazon has discounted a number of additional LEGO sets (though it’s a distinct possibility I just missed them while in a food coma).

UPDATE: LEGO has now updated the LEGO Shop with new 2016 LEGO sets, and extended the Cyber Monday sales & deals.

The LEGO Chima set 70145 Maula’s Ice Mammoth Stomper is 30% off, down $27 to $62.99.

The LEGO Ninjago set 70749 Enter the Serpent is 26% off, down to $44.20.

The Guardians of the Galaxy set 76020 Knowhere Escape Mission is 26% off, at $29.49.

76020 Knowhere Escape Mission

I’m sure there are more discounts you can find on Amazon’s LEGO store, but I’ve been at this for a week and I’m exhausted.

As always, whether you’re buying diapers or a new flat screen TV, any purchase (not just LEGO) that you make on Amazon after clicking through from Brothers-Brick.com helps support everything we do — event sponsorship, contests like Pimp Rey’s Speeder, and the day-to-day business of running the site. So, as you gear up for holiday shopping over the next few weeks, keep us in mind!

And thank you — you make The Brothers Brick possible.

LEGO Cyber Monday 2015 sales & deals [News]

In addition to the heavily discounted LEGO on Black Friday, the LEGO Shop online is also discounting over a dozen more sets for Cyber Monday, starting at midnight Eastern Monday (9 PM Pacific Sunday). Highlights include a couple sets over $100 at 20% off and several at 40% off.

As always, you can help support The Brothers Brick by clicking through from here to take advantage of these deals (at no additional cost to you).

The LEGO Technic 42025 Cargo Plane is $28 off at $111.99.

My favorite LEGO Architecture set, 21017 Imperial Hotel (from my hometown of Tokyo) is 20% off at $103.99.
