Tag Archives: Mecha

We all love a good LEGO Gundam or Macross mecha, but LEGO builders everywhere are also creating excellent models of their own designs. Have a look at them here.

Newblood: Tony

Lcwtony on flickr has only recently begun posting models, but those that are up are quite stunning – he can obviously build both mecha and other futuristic stuff. With a stunning presentation to boot, you’ve got a winner! Here is his F430 Spider:

Make sure to click on over and look at the rest of his stuff and comment.

And now for Mechanimals of the sea!

Today’s batch of “mechanimals” from Izzo (previous post) includes two marine animals.

Proving that Izzo can pun in at least two languages, behold the “whalicopter” (Izzo’s blog post):

As if a flying whale weren’t enough, how about a bird that doesn’t? Here’s Izzo’s multipurpose aquatic transportation device, the “Penguindive” (link):

The vignette above shows the Penguindive in underwater mode. Here it is at rest and on the surface:

Izzo’s Mechanimals

I always love it when Izzo starts a new series! Whether it’s vignettes based on Japanese proverbs or industrial mecha, I know we all have something great to look forward to.

Izzo’s latest is a series of creature-inspired mecha he cleverly calls “mechanimals.”

The first is a rat-car with a detachable rat-bot (blog post):

That certainly looks fun to drive around the neighborhood, but Izzo’s second mechanimal is much more useful. The “Pelicargo” (wonderful name, Izzo!) is capable of transporting your cargo wherever it needs to go (blog post):

Soren’s Galbady Gamma with Ballute System

Soren Roberts has updated his Galbady Gamma with a ballute system:

While we’re at it, here’s a bonus mecha, a Soren-original called Gravity:

A nice slice of mecha

Getting away from NWBC, now. Man, I wish I could have been there! The pictures show too much good stuff to take in at once!

Fradel Gonzales, commonly known as Slice151, have built a very nice pair of mechas that he call Chirashis. They are viewable in his flickr photostream, and are certainly fantastic in their black sleekness.

Godzilla week!

It’s Godzilla week! Duane Hess shows that not only Moko can build giant, mutated, army-crushing reptilians:

One can, of course, argue that this is not my forte. I have to ask, then, if giant, mutated, army-crushing reptilians isn’t (science) fiction, then what is? ;-)

(Note: updates from me will be more regular from now on. I have finally gotten hold of internet again! Wee!)

The Leaning Mecha of Jehkay

Jehkay is turning into quite the mecha builder. Two new mecha include a vertical tank and a microscale mecha.

Here’s the vertical tank:

And the tiny mecha:

Moko’s Godzilla

It’s big, it’s spiky, and it’s scaly. Moko has been working on a very large model of Godzilla for sometime, and he recently announced that he completed it:

New Van-Force Design Info on PPB

With mecha now a solid part of The Brothers Brick repartoire, I’d be remiss in my duties if I didn’t shamelessly point you over to Pan-Pacific Bricks for the latest information on a new “Van-Force” model by anime director and mecha designer Shoji Kawamori:

New Van-Force Design from Shoji Kawamori

Azumu over at LEGO-BINGO reported last month (yeah, I know) that mecha designer Shoji Kawamori has created another Exo-Force alternate model using 7700 Stealth Hunter and 7707 Striking Venom.

Oh, and this one transforms.

Edge over at レゴ系(仮) (aka “The LEGO System”) provides a nice close-up of the mecha in flight mode:

Here’s are some pics by Azumu of Mr. Kawamori at an event held in LEGO specialty store “Click-Brick” (via LEGO-BINGO):

With just a few short weeks left before the con, Mark Neumann has announced an impromptu “Mecha City Project” for NWBrickCon.

Read all about it over on Mecha Hub, and contact Mark if you’re interested (he tells you how in his MH post).
