LEGO midi-scale U-Wing takes flight, and looks great

In my opinion, the U-Wing, introduced in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, is easily one of the most interesting fighters since the X-Wing. So I was excited to see this model by Matt showing this iconic fighter at a smaller scale, but in no way skimping on details. Taking a closer look at the front wing assembly, you can see a very interesting combination of modified plates with upward brackets to form the wing along two building angles. The choce of the modiefied slope with the cut-outs is the perfect canopy as well.

Oh, and in case you were wondering if the wings swing back for atmospheric flight mode… Yes they do.

Storm the beaches of Kashyyyk with this faithfully recreated tank droid

Whatever your feelings toward the Star Wars prequels, it’s hard to deny the quality of their production design. This LEGO incarnation of the NR-N99 Persuader-class tank droid by builder Matt (from Revenge of the Sith) is just one example of the many instantly iconic vehicles the prequels bestowed upon us. The build does its on-screen counterpart justice—from the fencing foils used for the antennae to the “I” typewriter keys cleverly repurposed as the droid’s photoreceptors. You can almost hear the pew-pew-pew of those heavy repeating blasters.

This dynamic vehicle is lovingly crafted from LEGO by Matt in excellent detail! I’ve always loved this podracer, and this build reminds me why. The engines are slick, and the cockpit is stylish. Of course, it doesn’t hurt it’s the fastest racer ever! Can you hear those engines purring, the energy binder humming? Some cool parts usage at work in those racing engines, like the yellow helmets from the LEGO Space theme. Another nice callback, this time to the Arctic theme, are the yellow snowshoes on the engines’ midsection. They have the waffle cutouts perfect for those vent covers! Something I appreciate is the use of transparent cones for that undulating effect of the active energy binder.
