How small can you go?

Sometimes, the leviathan is small. In this magnificent tiny vignette by Grantmasters, a lone ship rides a ferocious ocean. It’s a safe bet that it’s the Pequod, since it’s hunting a white whale. As usual, Grant’s build is rife with excellent parts usages, from the little known Belville figure feet making most of the whale’s body, to the beard for a tail, or the axe blades for water.

Kaneda’s motorcycle was smaller than you thought

We’ve seen many LEGO versions of Kaneda’s red motorcycle from Akira, but they’re often larger-scale models like the beauty we saw last year. At the other end of the size spectrum, Grantmasters‘ latest creation is a tiny microscale version of the iconic bike. Grant has used the perfect combination of red pieces for this little masterpiece, although purists may quibble that most of them seem to be balanced atop each other rather than attached. Nice work on the figure too. Overall this passes the “microscale test” — ie. is it immediately recognisable? There’s no doubting that. All together now… “Kaaaannnedaaaa!”

Brothers Brick LEGO Builder of the Year 2016 [News]

Every day Brothers Brick brings you the best LEGO models from around the world. Just like our global readership, there are LEGO builders across the world creating fabulous things with plastic bricks. However, every year there are a handful of builders who take things to new levels, prove themselves masters of various building styles, and wow us with their LEGO skills.

This year, Brothers Brick is delighted to call out Grantmasters as our LEGO Builder of the Year 2016.

Brothers Brick LEGO Builder of the Year 2016

Grant’s LEGO creations range from the minuscule to the mid-size, varied across themes and styles — from characters to architecture, with interesting parts choices and excellent building techniques throughout. His models featured no less than 13 times on the pages of Brothers Brick in 2016, and as Andrew (TBB’s founder and editor-in-chief) pointed out, the creations of Grant’s we didn’t feature could just as easily have been blogged. He’s had a sterling output of work in the past twelve months, and here are some of the highlights.
