About Josh

Josh is 30+ years old and has more Lego than he has hair. Which really isn't saying much. He builds mostly medieval creations, but dabbles in other genres. He is also a father and uses his kids as an excuse to buy Lego. That justification isn't working as well as it used to, so if you can think of a better justification, feel free to contact him. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Josh's Brickshelf gallery gets messier and messier. Josh also has a Flickr gallery, if you care about such things. He goes by the name "floodllama" there. If you wonder why he goes by "floodllama", you've obviously never owned a llama in flood. Josh feels sorry for you.

BrickArms does it again!

This week BrickArms announced brand-new weaponery for that special minifig in your life!

BrickArms, famous for being the only custom pieces that Andrew owns, previously brought us 8 incredible custom weapons. I know because I bought way too many of them at NWBrickCon last year. Also my Vikings really love ’em (yes, my Vikings).

This new offering is even better! Mr. Chapman (and his family I presume) will be selling their new hardware at BrickFest PDX, if you want to meet them in person. I am going to be so broke after Brickfest …

The Kraken Awakes!

I have been meaning to blog this for a while and finally got myself in gear!

Paul Brassington has created a true masterpiece! Not only are his building skills something to die for, but he has taken great shots of the entire scene. Also, check out the nifty video of the flailing tentacles!

Gryphon Rider by Rayhawk

Mike Rayhawk has created yet another incredible piece of art based on Lego elements:

Mike is an exceptional artist, who has done amazing concept work for Lego, as well as being the Lead Illustrator for the Knights Kingdom Lego theme. Mike has also done freelance work for various organizations, including the Jim Henson company.
Personally, I am a big fan of his art and am very excited about this latest piece. Way to go, Mike, you are awesome!

(There is also an alternate version in red and gold.)

Just recieved Gary Istok’s Lego CD!

Today my copy of “The Unofficial Lego Sets/Parts Collectors Guide” finally came in the mail and it was definitely worth the wait.

Gary Istok has spent a lot time and effort on this CD and it shows. There are over 1,000 pages of wonderful Lego information. So much information that I don’t know if I will ever be able to read it all!

But the nice thing is that you don’t have to. Gary has divided the CD into multiple .pdf files with an excellent Table of Contents. It is very easy to find exactly the information you need. This work will be a significant resource in the Lego community for years to come.

Have a look at Mr. Istok’s website. There are sample pages and chapters. You can also check out the full Table of Contest as well.

Chainsaw Santa by Moko

Moko has build a rather ominous rendition of the jolly old elf:

Crystal Falls Bridge

Here is yet another entry of mine for the Colossal Castle Contest IV (getting tired of them yet?). This one is for the Medieval Bridge category. Spanning a ravine and only accessible through an elaborate cave system, this bridge is rests amid the spray of the famous Crystal Falls. While an intrepid fish trys to leap up the falls, a band of mysterious hooded figures crosses the bridge. Check out the gallery here!

My Prison Wagon for the CCCIV

A typical barbarian prisoner wagon returns from battle. Festooned with remnants of previous residents, the wagon rumbles its way back to the barbarian encampment. What hideous fate awaits the unfortunate survivors? I hope to never find out.

Hilltop Tower by DarkSpawn

DarkSpawn has posted a very classic-looking tower for the CCCIV. From the sculpted look of the landscaping, to the angles of the walls, this tower has a lot to offer.

The Black Death by Baggins

Baggins has entered a rather morbid little scene in the Colossal Castle Contest IV. Other than lots of dead bodies, it includes a well-built tudor house, a sweet lokking burial pit, and a number of well-posed mini-figs.

Check out the Plague-infested gallery.

Entrance to Caves by Nathan Todd

The newest creation by Nathan (aka Norro) is easily the best creation I have seen in years. The fanstastic cliff-side tavern, incredible landscaping, and plethora of detail renders this reviewer speechless (well, almost).

When you view this gallery, make sure you have some time, because its 32 pics are going to suck you in. So grab a cup of coffee, put on some music, sit back, and enjoy the Entrance to the Caves!
