Moko’s LEGO Dragonzord merges with Mighty Morphin’ Megazord

While 10358 Soundwave is making waves as LEGO’s best transformable bot to date, old-school AFOLs know that when it comes to poseable and functional mecha, Moko‘s models can’t be beat! Last year Moko wowed us with an uncannily accurate Power Rangers’ Megazord in LEGO. Enter the Green Ranger as the Godzilla-esque Dragonzord roars in as Moko’s latest Morphin’ mech. Standing an impressive 44cm and weighing 2kg, the Dragonzord is comparable in size to the retired LEGO Voltron.

This “DragonCaeser,” as it’s known in Japanese, is looking sharp with its high degree of articulation and shiny gold accents, and standing on its own is nearly as large as last year’s Megazord…

But the laurels go to Moko for how the metal beast combines with his previous Zord lineup using only the hinges and rotations integrated in the model.

First up, Dragonzord can combine with the Mastadoon, Triceratops, and Sabertooth Zords to form Dragonzord Battle Mode. Standing 54 cm tall and weighing 4 kg (nearly 9 lbs), this mech is a beast. This form lets you appreciate the intricate mosaic work that was under the dragon form’s feet, now making up the thighs. We also get to see the impressive mech face hidden inside the dragon’s mouth. (for tips on building your own mecha heads, Moko has you covered).

The Dragonzord’s tail can be removed and combined with the chest armor to form the Power Staff (aka Dragon Antler), an impressive drill-tipped weapon. At 70 cm long, it stands taller than the entire mech.

Armed with this ultimate weapon, Dragonzord Battle Mode is ready to deliver its finishing move.

But that’s not the strongest form these Zords can make. The Dragonzord can merge with the entire Megazaord to form the Mega Dragonzord. My favorite detail is how the Dragonzord’s fingers become shoulder-mounted rockets. This form only appeared on screen a few times, supposedly because the costume was too heavy for the actors too wear. Building in the articulation to make this form possible was one of Moko’s biggest hurtles to completing this latest masterpiece.

The Mega Dragonzord can weild the Power Staff as well, but Moko also reproduces a form never seen in the show where they can be used as a chain sword and shield.

Now all we need is a LEGO Titanus. You’ve got, this Moko!
