LEGO Ideas first 2022 review results [News]

Today, LEGO Ideas revealed the results of the first review of 2022. Not one, not two, but four projects got approved, promising a stunning lineup of sets later in 2023 and 2024.

First project is LEGO Insects by José María. A set of colourful bugs seems to be a perfect choice for family building (similar to LEGO Botanical Collection 10309 Succulents). It’s hard to say how many insects will be included in the final product, so we’ll wait for the final release.

Next is The Orient Express by Thomas Lajon. With the recent release of the colossal 76405 Hogwarts Express – Collectors’ Edition, none of our editors could see this project as an actual set. But the LEGO Ideas board decided otherwise, and we salute another gorgeous addition to the LEGO train collection.

We know Jan Woźnica for his amazing space-themed vignettes, and now his masterpiece Tales of the Space Age is about to become the next official LEGO set. We are curious to see how the models will be updated by the LEGO designers and what features the final product will include.

A life-sized Polaroid OneStep SX-70 camera by Marc is the final project approved by the Ideas board today. LEGO fans seem to love authentic-looking sets, so the Polaroid camera will surely find its audience.

Here are the results of the review in one picture:

I hope the re-visioning of the Orient Express makes it minifig compatible, if not exactly minifig scale.

I’m afraid that changes in Woźnica’s project will affect it’s atmosphere. To be honest, IMO this is so perfect it doesn’t need any modifications at all.
