With appearances on Letterman and Colbert, “brick artist” Nathan Sawaya is quite possibly the only LEGO builder with anything close to celebrity status — and deservedly so.
Nathan has recently opened an exhibit at the Pearlridge Shopping Center in Aiea, HI. He debuted several new sculptures, including “Green” below:
Nathan also did some onsite work. Here he is working on a mosaic of the Hawaiian flag:
Thanks for the tip and the photos, Nelson Yrizarry!
You can see Nathan’s art at the Pearlridge Shopping Center through July 20th.
Epic.
Win.
hmmm, it seem’s Lego® is all about scale for some.
i like aspects of “green”, interesting curvature, though i would like to see it re – invented as “sand green”.
Nathan Sawaya sure does do a good job of promoting Lego® in mainstream culture…. Go Nathan!
I wish I was there to see him build his creations. The exhibit at Pearlridge is a must see for anybody in Hawaii especially since its free. I especially liked the Parthenon and the swimmer one.

Hope you don’t mind a PR- type showing up here, but I have been reading upon various LEGO®-related blogs.
I wanted to let those readers with access to the east coast, Philadelphia PA specifically, know that Nathan Sawaya’s “The Art of the Brick” museum show will be coming to the American Swedish Historical Museum August 22 – Nov. 30. It is easily accessible (less than 5 minutes ) from I-95 in Philly. Nathan himself will be attending the opening event, Aug. 22, the event runs 6-10 p.m. and he will be signing his book “The Art of the Brick.” He will also be attending part of the day on Saturday, August 23. I am not sure if he will be building anything; stay tuned.
check http://www.americanswedish.org or Nathan’s site – http://www.brickartist.com/museum.html
I’ll send a copy of the press release to the contact us link on this site, or it can be seen on the American Swedish Hist. museum website
Thanks for listening,
