Powered mechanical exoskeletons. For when your minifigure needs a mighty boost.

Chris B’s Litesuits

Chris B has recently posted a couple of small robots/hardsuits that have a lot of style. He has achieved some really cool shapes and details at a small scale. I especially like the head and shoulder winglets on the yellow one. Based on their names, there may even be a third one in the works.

Pyrefyre’s hardsuit makes minifigs tall

While most hardsuits make minifigs chunkier, Alvaro Gunawan (Pyrefyre) allows his minifig pilots to take slightly longer steps.

UM-5D Spec-Ops War Doll combat hardsuit by Brian Kescenovitz

Not content to let his amazing silver UM-5 War Doll shine alone, Brian Kescenovitz has built an all-black version that you wouldn’t want to meet in a dark alley at night:

Tim Zarki’s adorable MaK-inspired hardsuit has me going “Awwww!”

Long-time readers of this blog should know by now that I’m a sucker for small adorable things. Tim Zarki isn’t helping my addiction by posting this cute little hardsuit inspired by Maschinen Krieger (often abbreviated Ma. K. or MaK):

That’s a Technic figure helmet. I may just have to dig mine out of my “useless” bin and give this one a try myself. (I know, I know, there are no useless LEGO pieces!)

This doll packs a punch

Brian Kescenovitz‘s newest creation is a combat hardsuit called the War Doll. For a small model, this deadly machine has details all over, with the most impressive one being the opening mechanism of the control center, which nests a pilot minifigure. Way cool

Horace Cheng masters the skies

After dropping out of the LEGO scene for a while, Horace Cheng is clearly back with a vengeance.

Can a hardsuit be swooshable? Yes, yes it can:

Aaron “DARKspawn” Andrews is participating in the hardsuit contest over in the Flickr LEGO group. Is this the third of three cool hardsuits? Only time will tell…

H&V 01B – Space Combat Hardsuit with M-SB Pack, by Tim Zarki

It’s been a little while since we’ve featured a hardsuit inspired by Maschinen Krieger (or Ma.K) — a series of plastic models designed by Kow Yokoyama in the mid 1980’s. Here’s a nice one by Tim Zarki:

If you’re large and mechanical, beware the Killbot

Mecha fighting each other gets stale. To alleviate our boredom, Aaron Andrews (aka DARKspawn) presents something capable of taking on your hardsuit or mobile suit or whatever:

Hither and yon aboard Mr. Zarki’s marvelous Mobile Throne

The pad to the rider’s left is apparently a “portable food synthesizer with voice command.” Heh heh, cool. Oh, and Tim “Spook” Zarki also posted a cool little hardsuit:

Spartan M65 Hardsuit by lego2000

lego2000/m20xr has designed a hardsuit reminiscent of Maschinen Krieger, and it’s really rather cool. Here it is with an “optional 75 mm chain gun”:
