My Prison Wagon for the CCCIV

A typical barbarian prisoner wagon returns from battle. Festooned with remnants of previous residents, the wagon rumbles its way back to the barbarian encampment. What hideous fate awaits the unfortunate survivors? I hope to never find out.

Hilltop Tower by DarkSpawn

DarkSpawn has posted a very classic-looking tower for the CCCIV. From the sculpted look of the landscaping, to the angles of the walls, this tower has a lot to offer.

The Castle Traveling by Kotaro Ono

From Kotaro Ono’s How Many Studs to Legoland?:

There once was an ancient, ancient, oh so ancient dragon. When the dragon awoke from his slumber, the world around him had completely changed.

The dragon asked the king, “O King, why has the land become stained red, red the color of blood?” The king replied to the dragon, “O Dragon, time has passed, and the world has changed.”

The dragon again asked the king, “O King, why have the stones lost their warmth, and why has steel lost its sheen?” The king again replied, “O Dragon, no one knows. The world has changed.”

The dragon again asked the king, “O King, what of the suffering on the faces of the people? Why are the people’s faces so ugly?” The king again replied, “O Dragon, that is the normal face for people. The world has changed.”

The dragon closed its eyes, opened them, and asked its final question. “O King, must children live in a world like this? Must they live in this world that has changed so completely?” The king gave his final reply. “O Dragon, the children, the children — The world, the world –” But the king could not answer the dragon’s final question.

The dragon opened its eyes, stood, and said to the king, “O King, build ye a castle upon my back. Now is the time that I will fulfill my ancient promise. The time has come for you to ride upon my back, seeking the real world, a world that does not change, a world for the children.”

And so, the king built a castle on the dragon’s back. The long, long, oh so long journey of the king and the dragon began.

Afterward, there never was a person who heard from the dragon and the king again.

Classic Castle Chess Set by astronut1

In June of 2005, Classic-Castle.com held a contest to create castle-themed chess pieces and chess sets. It looks like Flickr user astronut1 took his pictures a few months later (and just posted them on Flickr), but these would have been great entries:

The pawns are classic Crusaders and Black Falcons minifigs, but astronut1 created unique pieces for the rest. I especially like the kings and queens:

The rooks and bishops are also great:

The Black Death by Baggins

Baggins has entered a rather morbid little scene in the Colossal Castle Contest IV. Other than lots of dead bodies, it includes a well-built tudor house, a sweet lokking burial pit, and a number of well-posed mini-figs.

Entrance to Caves by Nathan Todd

The newest creation by Nathan (aka Norro) is easily the best creation I have seen in years. The fanstastic cliff-side tavern, incredible landscaping, and plethora of detail renders this reviewer speechless (well, almost).

When you view this gallery, make sure you have some time, because its 32 pics are going to suck you in. So grab a cup of coffee, put on some music, sit back, and enjoy the Entrance to the Caves!

Pegasus Knight by Yours Truly

Well, here I am, tooting my own horn. This is my attempt at a custom fig for the Colossal Castle Contest 4. Virtually all of it is customized, only the wings and plume are unaltered Lego. It was definitely a fun build. Hope you enjoy it!

Colors of the Samurai by NickGreat

Cool enough to blog on a purist LEGO blog, customizer NickGreat’sColors of the Samurai” project is fantastic indeed.

Here’s Nick’s latest, the Black Samurai. I love all the kanji characters, the mask (a chopped-up Green Goblin mask), and the naginata spear:

Since I’m blogging his newest, I might as well blog his previous two samurai. Nick’s White Samurai has a shoulder decoration that also uses the Green Goblin head, and an excellent double-sword carrier thingie for her back:

Nick’s first color samurai was Red. I can’t get enough of that mask:

Lost Diggers Bridge by Jens

Jens has built a truly incredible bridge for Colossal Castle Contest IV. Not only is the construction very unique, his landscaping is superb. The figures in the scene add a nice touch of life and the lost miner adds a hint of tragedy. Yet another masterpiece by an amazing builder!

Sampan by Sir Lomero

Sir Lomero has built a cute little sampan. The tile work on the sides gives this a rather elegant feel and the lantern is a great design. But what really makes this stand out is the brick-built sail! The use of the wedges gives the sail a beautiful curve and makes this boat tand out. Good Job!

Camel Warrior by Tim Gould

Tim Gould (aka Gambort) recently posted this sweet camel and rider on Classic-Castle. Its an excellent example of a brick-built beast. In fact, I don’t think I’ve seen a better camel anywhere. The turban is also a great touch.
