Wes Talbott and James May talk about how they designed the LEGO Ideas 21327 Typewriter [News]

LEGO Ideas 21327 Typewriter, the newest Ideas set revealed, was designed by Wes Talbott and James May. They both wanted the Typewriter to have as much functionality as possible, and say it was a challenge to create a working model where Technic and System bricks work well together.

James mentions an Easter Egg in the set, contributed by the original designer Steve Guinness. He wanted to have his initials along with the initials of “Never give up on your dreams”. It can be found on the “System in Play” sticker on the back.

You can find more images of the set and the official press release here. The set has 2,079 pieces, pressable keys, moving center bar and carriage, and it’s possible to feed real paper to it. It will be available for LEGO VIP members from June 16 and worldwide from July 1, priced at US $199.99 | CAN $269.99 | UK £179.99.
