The team from LEGO shares a favourite video feature of ours by hearing directly from the designers involved in the creation of the LEGO Ideas 21326 Winnie The Pooh set. Featuring (L-R, image below) lead LEGO Model designer Ilia Gotlib, Simon Wilson (LEGO Element Designer), Felipe Silva Telles (LEGO Element Designer) and Ashwin Visser (LEGO Graphic Designer)
Ilia tells is about the overall design approach, which intends to bring back memories of adults that grew up reading and watching Winnie the Pooh adventures and friendship. There’s also a neat new way that the trees are shaped using coral elements, something that’s not done before as a LEGO build technique in an official set
Element designers Simon and Felipe talks about how the new minifigures molds come to life. It starts with a preliminary size and shape that’s either made with hand or computer and eventually scaled down to the actual minifigure size to see in its scale with the rest of the build.
Ashwin talks about how the look and feel of characters are captured and to make sure they include the LEGO DNA in a graphic way for looks and feels.
