Nineteen new sets revealed from The LEGO Movie 2 [News]

LEGO has unveiled a whopping nineteen sets from their upcoming sequel, The LEGO Movie 2, and The Brothers Brick has all the details on the new product line. The wave of sets will be available in stores starting on December 26, a month and a half ahead of the movie’s release to theaters.

At first glance, there are plenty of exciting minifigures, new elements, part colors, and even a classic space “battle pack.” Some of the sets have a combination of Friends minidolls, System minifigures and faux-Duplo characters all in the same box. It seems the LEGO designers (and the movie creators) had quite a bit of fun with these unique and playful sets, so let’s take a closer look. (Note: We have no clue if any of these sets contain spoilers, so consider yourself warned.)

“The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part” hits theaters on February 8, 2019, and from the look of the sets below, we are in for a wild ride through Bricksburg and the Systar System. Of the nineteen new sets, three were revealed previously at San Diego Comic-Con. We learn about several new characters from the set descriptions including the shape-shifting Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi (a play on “whatever you want to be”), Rex Dangervest (also voiced by Chris Pratt and complete with Jurassic World-esque dinos), and a whole menagerie of other colorful supporting characters.

Overall, it appears LEGO is going all in to flood the market with new sets from the upcoming sequel. We also noticed a conspicuous gap in the set numbers with potentially four sets missing (70837-70840), so we can likely expect even more from The LEGO Movie 2 yet to be revealed (including sewer babies, we hope). What sets are you most excited about?

    came in here to find the “new colors”! although there’s a chance that that trans-purple is a darker shade (probably not), the color that’s definitely new is that TEAL! does anyone happen to know if this teal color would match shades with the discontinued color [dark teal]? (bricklink color name). Just curious! later..

    @Elspeth De Montes

    What color is that? Rebooted Salmon? (I had kinda hoped for Reddish Orange …)

    Hmm, Pop-Up Party Bus has some cool mini-dolls. Maybe I’ll see if they pop up separately, but the only set I can see myself buying there is the Space Squad… (And it’s nice to see the blue slope with space logo popping up in affordable sets…)

  3. Jimmy

    OMG I want them all.

    but classic space fig pack! And I adore that little rover and the shuttle craft -those are beautifully classic in design!

  4. Nat

    They recreated the classic helmet mold! So not only do we get a Classic Space minifig in pink, but the helmet is the old style! And so are the white and yellow helmets. Now, where to find an old-style green helmet…
