Talking mechs, music, and LEGO fashion with Mexican creator Tenkyuu.mocs

LEGO fandom is global and here at The Brothers Brick, we strive to feature creators from every corner of the world. Access to bricks and local support isn’t evenly distributed, though, as the recent changes to Bricklink’s service reminded us all. For Mexican builder Zazil Yakín Xipé, who shares LEGO creations as @tenkyuu.mocs, not amassing a huge collection of bricks hasn’t stopped her from creating a string of impressive and innovative mechs. Today we’re excited to share an interview between Tenkyuu and Zakar.ion that covers LEGO-inspired fashions, Exo-Force, and that one time a worker at a Mexican LEGO factory went rogue and made black market Vaders with the official molds!

Our interview with Tenkyuu.mocs begins here

Heavenly clockwork mech glistens in LEGO gold

Gold LEGO elements in LEGO aren’t nearly as rare as they used to be, but the mix of shapes available still makes it quite tricky to use it as the dominant color in a model.  Builder Zazil Yakín Xipé, aka Tenkyuu.mocs, a member of the Mexico RLUG community, shares a mech in mostly gold that looks truly divine. The halo ring and feathered wings give seraphic vibes, but the red skull in the ring and the mech’s name, Sister Sorrow, suggest a fall from grace. Or perhaps she’s auditioning to be a boss in the next FromSoftware game.

Sister Sorrow

Tenkyuu is quite a prolific mech designer thanks to a custom frame used to scaffold most builds. I might have to try this techique myself!
