Throughout October, spooky builds take over LEGO feeds like a Spirit Halloween store. With so many eerily good costumes and creepy characters this month, we thought it would be a treat to summon the specters early for a month of monstrous madness!
ASortaOkayBuilder kicks things off with Manny, the skeletal bard. Equipped with Héctor’s guitar from Coco and a trans neon green ectoplasmic flourish, this swashbuckling is the perfect minifig to lead us to the lands of the dead.
Captain Dark Shark captures footage of paranormal activity in medieval times. Created for the newly launched Graymane Guild Role-Play community, this haunting is sure to kick of an epic quest when the villager enlists magical help to solve the Ahsenhollow curse.
Anotherlegoaccount has been going through the decades capturing obscure horror films you’ve probably never heard of, like the obscure 1979 Soviet sci-fi thriller “In Space” with its hideous Extroform. The scene with the mandroid was terrifying. I’m just glad the dog survives.
Brickbot_studio turns up the terror with Inquisitor Malchuron and Archivist Seralyth of the Pale Sept. Malchuron’s cyborg body is built in gruesome detail, but my favorite technique might be that crowbar candelabra.
Taiwanese buider haru_bonks has mainly focused on Bionicle builds but has been experimenting with custom minifigs. For this tribute to Bloodborne , the builder was mentored by Minifig Monday alum phiphibrick.
Speaking of phiphibrick, not long ago the builder collaborated on another spooky theme – Vampire Hunters. Here’s Nyxy Darkwatch, an elven hunter armed with an incredible crossbow.
The other half of the collab came from Bambus Bricks Customs whose original character, Nathaniel Redwood, looks chilling with a blood-red lantern and a tombstone shield.
While technically not horror-themed, I can’t see anyone lugging around a giant cross without thinking of Easter Trigun. gwbricks pays tribute to the Madhouse anime classic with the help of retro minifig heads and sticky tape.
LEGO photographer edgy_mando also digs into the millennial pop-culture past for a tribute to Hugh Jackman’s Dracula-adjacent CGI monster-fest Van Helsing.
Of course this is the season for Sigfigs to get in on the frights. lego_dad90 creates a fitting throne for mistress of the macabre legonillan featuring a bevy of bat-winged friends.
Elsewhere in the sigfig cinematic universe, cardmakernr1 is joined by sleepswithlego for the annual inspection of the pumpkins. Cardmaker creates a spooky scene filled with halloween detail, while Sleeps provides the crocheted coats that the sigfigs wear (read our interview with Sleeps here to learn more about her sigfig adventures!)
For nearly two years, Larry Builds has been creating marvelous LEGO superhero vignettes, including this delightfully deranged scene from Sam Raimi’s trip to the MCU. Sorry, Pedro Pascal, but this scene alone is peak Reed Richards. Best ever use of LEGO sausages?
Sticking to Marvel, josh_don.t shows how much worse things could have been for poor Little Red Riding Hood if the Big Bad Wolf had been bitten by a radioactive spider.
Toy photographyer Michał Szymel gets spooky season rolling with a cart full of pumpkin-heads. It’s always a delight to see minifigures out in the wild, especially in the fall, and few are as good at capturing them as Michał.
