Wow, is the month half gone already? As we head further into SHIPtember, the SHIPs are shaping up, and the parts are really adding up. Digital builds begin their journey to IRL, or continue to grow in bytes, while their physical counterparts take on a more finished look. Some SHIPS are even done already. Builders wonder if they have taken on too big a challenge. They persevere, they re-work and re-work that one detail they are not 100% happy with. Some SHIPS may suffer a drop, or a shoulder bump, or a wayward cat, which gives the builder a chance to reinforce a more fragile section. Now, let’s check up on the builds of SHIPtember 2025…
Andre has a pretty solid front section for their sweet Octan freighter, making good use of those large soccer field parts with the round divot in the center, and some nice red details to pull off the Octan red/green/white color scheme, and wait, is that a red plant element used as part of that side-mounted engine or intake vent? Nice Parts Use, my friend. Those Technic beams along both sides look like the perfect place to anchor some tanks.
DinoPete is building a long orange cargo SHIP, and this week has added a bunch of fun containers using stickers and printed tiles from a number of LEGO themes like Dino Hunters, Alien Conquest, and Star Wars. The front of the ship has a bit of a hammerhead shark look to it, with angled sections that use curved tiles and angled tiles to create a swooping arrow effect.
Entertainingly Lame is making great progress on a wedge-shaped SHIP that looks like it came straight off the NASA assembly line. seeing the underside it looks like it has enough fuel reserves for an extra-solar adventure, and those engines!
H seems to have finished their SHIP made out of and around a giant space whale skeleton. (I rotated the image to save vertical space). The transparent purple engines seem to be made from the same strange crystals growing out of the bones. I think this is definetluy one of the more unique ship designes I have seen in a while. Great job!
This week, HUIB, who stated with a stunning digital model, has begun to build their star-shaped SHIP IRL. Judging from the multi-colored bits along the bottom spine, there is some serious LEGO math at work in this ship, and I can’t wait to see more as the month continues.
Ktorrek, who got a late start like me since they were also at Brickcon at the start of the month, is making amazing progress on a ship that seems to be inspired by Space Battleship Yamato, or other sci-fi anime with a sleek profile resembling a naval ship, complete with massive turrets fore and aft. The drk red paired with yellow and white is a fun color palette as well.
Another SHIP builder jumping in the fray this week is Perry, who is building a Halo ring which if all goes as planned, will be over 500 studs in diameter! They seem to have a pretty solid start, with a few sections showing the varied terrain and even some clouds drifting along the surface.
Pyrefyre is building an impressive SHIP that is gicing me Mass Effect vibes with several prongs mounted to a series of central rings made from large round Technic gear-toothed ring elements. The solar panels mounted at the back made from hexagonal shield elements is looking good.
With the wings of their dagger ship mostly done, RevanBricks have moved on to the central engine and (I think) crew compartment. A video posted to the Discord SHIPtmber channel shows how a mechanical feature will be used to swing the wings backward and forward from this central section, which should be pretty cool when finished.
Umbra-Manis continues to make good progress digitally with some side-facing hangers, and an interesting angled section at the front of the SHIP. I am intrigued to find out what they have in mind for the engines, as they are likely to be unusual, mounted to that triangle shape at the back.
Pascal is working on a fun SHIP inspired by LEGO cLassic space, with a clean and minimal look sporting the iconic blue and light gray colors with the black and yellow stripe.
Bricknap has finished their SHIP and wow, what an explosion of color. I like their use of all those airlock connectors from the LEGO City space theme. I think those parts at the very front are from the recently released Creator 3-in-1 retor phone set, either that or the LEGO Batman gotham city skyline… Nice part use either way.
Finally, I have made some good progress on my own flying wing, shaping the top fuselage for both Port and Starboard wings, and a crew section to be mounted between the two wings. After adding a bird-like detail on each wing, and based on dark red as the primary color I am considering the name Bloodwing for my minifig-scaled heavy bomber, inspired by the B-17 flying fortress.
