Bounty Hunters, Troopers, and Droids – oh my! [Minifig Monday]

Wookiepedia catalogues thousands of characters from a galaxy far, far away, and yet the richness of Star Wars leaves ample space for anyone to imagine their own swarthy scoundrel, sinister Sith, or back-stabbing bounty hunter to roam the Outer Rim. This week on Minifig Monday we round up some recent builds from the custom minifig community that’ll have your lips buzzing with lightsaber hums and binary beeps.

brickmedude invented a trio of mercenaries called the Saber Hunters who hunt Jedi and Sith alike. This ghostly merc evokes General Grievous by way of the Sisters from Kubo and the Two Strings. brickmedude is always an amazing photographer, but especially adept at post-production on light sabers.

When bam.bricks_customs goes Star Wars, he goes hard. This Nikto bounty hunter showcases incredible handling of cloth, with layers of fabric skirt and capes paired with a molded scarf and satchel. He looks like a Hasbro Black Series action figure in miniature. The reprogrammed Battle Droid has the makings of the perfect SW sidekick. Batter up, roger, roger.

Quarren are to the Mon Calamari what this guy is to the Ithorians. Garret (2p_figs) created this swashbuckling Sharklo bounty hunter as a different spin on Hammerhead. Excellent speeder as well.

No one photographs Star Wars minifigs like MeesabrickzHere the builder re-imagines Darth Vader’s iconic entrance with an original Sith Inquisitor – Darth Kayla – handing out the choke-holds.  For more Sith figs, why not revisit our Sith Happens roundup?)

Jonah Frost remixed the galaxy for Febrovery. For this ensemble, he remixes jizz-wailing music with  the Pax Guibo band. Nice to see Nubs head making an appearance outside of the Young Jedi Adventures.

Nox, created by brick.roll20, is a former Death Trooper who overcame his training to pursue a path free of empire and Jedi influence. The purple speeder is amazing. The builder primarily does fantasy characters – fans of D&D should definitely give them a follow.

brickbot_studio is no stranger to droids (you can read his review of K-2SO here). His commando character Serix Kaine looks slick in her Durasteel armor and gunmetal accessories. Her astromech companion, AR-X9, is an excellent compact design.

Fool’s Figures has a knack for creating fully-realized minifig characters that look like they’re lifted right out of a Saturday morning cartoon. Sgt Kain here isn’t technically from the Star Wars universe in Fool’s lore, but with the Mandalorian shoulder pads and imperial helmet, he might as well be a commando version of General Veers, ready to take on Echo Base on foot.

Red Impala‘s Blizzard Wizard is likewise not of the Star Wars universe, even if the accessories come from that IP. Red’s lore is as metal as always:

In the frost-scoured wastes of Thaldris, where the suns burn cold and time freezes mid-thought, walks the Blizzard Wizard—a prophet-warrior clad in white armor and helmet, wrapped in the torn hides of extinct moon beasts. Upon his shoulder, frost never melts. His staff, a reliquary of unknown origin, houses a radiant idol—The Mourning Flame—a weeping figure of godmetal, its hollow eyes lit by a vial of soul-nectar extracted from the hearts of dying planets. This light is not illumination, but remembrance. Flanking him, two pale snow hounds—silent, enormous, half-machine—sniff echoes from the void. He speaks only when necessary, and when he does, his words melt ice, warp memory, and seed rebellion in the minds of tyrants. He seeks The Womb of Winds, a temple buried beneath a glacier cathedral, where it is said the first breath of the universe still trembles, waiting to be inhaled by a being worthy enough to reshape fate.

Like Red and brickbot, Jacob Manahan also helped organize the Heroes of Fur and Feather role-play.  I’m especially fond of his brick-built droids, like this scrappy ensemble:

Or this questing trio. There’s just something so wholesome about a droid with a cloth cape.

TheNovaStandard is a master at moody lighting, which works perfectly for this samurai-inspired Sith lord, Darth Oros. While intimidating, I’m not sure that helmet is very practical on an Imperial stations, as many a stormtrooper has struggled with hitting their head on those doorways.

Rarely a week goes by without TBB regular and Star Wars legend Tim Goddard creating something new, like this BARP (Biker Advanced Recon Patrol) speeder.

After all those troopers and scoundrels, let’s end with a palate cleanser of this cute couple (no PDA,you two!), courtesy of Lynn. An amazing toy photographer, Lynn’s works celebrate LEGO’s female minifigs across every theme and always bring a smile.

After the medal ceremony, it's time for a selfie
