Dark Lords and Durasteel – Sith happens [Minifig Monday]

The LEGO minifig scene on Instagram is a welcoming place with creative collaborations, friendly crossovers, and a supportive community… all virtues sneered upon by the subject of this week’s Minifig Monday. Today we’re spotlighting Dark Lords of the Sith dreamed up by some of our favorite builders. The prompt for these builds came from the  #swminifigtournament started by burbricks. Which wicked fig is your favorite?

Our first Sith comes courtesy of Expansion Bricks. Per the builder, “Darth Taz is an ancient Utapauan sith from the Old Republic era, long before the rule of two. Taz fought in the Sith Civil Wars as a revered warrior and tactician.” The robotic arm and collection of trophies are incredible, but my favorite detail is definitely the use of the minifig ladybug wings as a collar around Taz’ head.

From kappa_o407, we have Darth Enophis, a highly unusual Mon Calamari Sith. Per Kappa, “He was best known for his ability to create Force Storms, an ability that allowed him to tear the fabric of space and create hyperspace tunnels, a power that allowed him not only to travel, but also gave him the ability to destroy entire planets due to the instability of the tears.” His storm powers were also ideal for laying traps.

Zakar.ion enters the fray with Darth Xeel, The Blind. “Seeking, unending evil. He alone, with veiled eyes, laid waste to thousands, his blade shining a crimson red like vengeance itself.” The mask and colors are reminiscent of Darth Malek, only with a dual-wielding advantage. I love how dynamic the brick-built body is.

Tyson Tross also goes with a brick-build body for the cybernetic Darth Novus, an innovator of sith technology who designed this beast of a three-bladed saber. Tyson is something of an expert at weird and wonderful minifig accessories and shares a bunch every week under the hashtag  #weaponwednesday.

Red Impala presents Darth Vharak, a ruthless Sith Lord, a gaunt figure with gray skin and burning red eyes that never blink. “Once a nameless mercenary left for dead on a poisoned battlefield, he was discovered by a Sith inquisitor who sensed his buried fury and offered him survival in exchange for servitude. Vharak accepted—then slaughtered his master and claimed the title of Darth for himself.” A dark lord indeed.

Sobek Bricks builds pretty much exclusively fantasy figures, but slipped in this Sith entry with a striking silhouette. Featuring Hela’s headpiece and Blacktron visors for shoulder guards, this sith has style to match their wickendess.

Fool’s Figures specializes in dark fantasy and that twisted spirit infuses Darth Skorpius, their sith contribution. I don’t know if there’s a species on Wookiepedia with a scorpion tail, crab claws, and force sensitivity, but there should be. What a wonderful lobstrosity.

bricks.for_bricks built a lovely bit of scenery for Darth Naravik, the Seeker to pose upon. This imposing figure gives Sith Inquisitor by way of Wakanda.

Finally, we have a pair of Sith from brickbot_studio. First is the Sith alchemist, Lord Maligon who “was obsessed with immortality, sacrificing his flesh piece by piece to ancient machines of his own design. Over millennia, his humanity eroded, leaving behind only a floating husk of pale skin, blackened durasteel, a gaunt, sunken face, and a soul twisted by centuries of pain and power.”

brickbot also introduces the 17th Sister and her deadly droid companion. “Her obsidian armor clings like a second skin, and her sleek, back-swept helmet conceals a face stripped of mercy, her voice distorted into a hollow echo of the child she once was. At her side prowls Unit 5R-K0; a silent, bladed monstrosity of Imperial design, its bladed limbs capable of rending through durasteel and its sensors calibrated to perfection.”

All of the previous Sith are original creations, but while we’re dwelling in the Dark Side, let’s throw in one classic character as built by brickbot_studios, our favorite wheezer, General Grievous .
