Unboxing the parts, instructions, and sticker sheets
40563 Tribute to LEGO® House comes in a tape-sealed box which features photographs of the five models on both the front and the back. The front of the box shows all five models in a single image on a white background, while the photos on the back of the box are arranged separately on a black background.
Inside the box there are 7 total bags numbered 1-5 with each model matching a number:

The set also includes a 138-page instruction booklet. The booklet features a few pages that introduce each of the five models. There are no stickers, but each model includes a printed black tile with the model name similar to the LEGO Architecture theme.
The LEGO House build
Each model starts out with a base made from black plates and tiles of various dimensions. The exception is the wooden duck, which adds the plate and tile base at the end of the build. For the LEGO House model, the majority of the parts are small plates and tiles in a variety of colors connected with several offsets to allow the sections to overlap just like the real building.
Not surprisingly, this model goes together pretty quickly. One fun thing to note for folks interested in this set as a parts pack – there are several tiles of various shapes and colors (3 blues, three yellows, 3 greens, 2 reds, orange, and light gray. One interesting part usage was two tall brackets in white which support each end of the final stack of white 2×4 plates at the center of the house.
The Tree of Creativity build
The Tree of Creativity is a fairly standard tree construction at this small scale, with a few micro-models on some of the branches. The first one is in homage to the original 375 yellow castle.
Next is a pair of city buildings, a fire engine, and finally, a crane at the top of the under-construction tree.
The Dinosaurs build
The dinosaurs were my second favorite build after the clean and colorful LEGO House. These dinosaurs represent three oversized models that are each built using one of the core LEGO themes: Duplo, System, and Technic. This is clearly reflected in the parts used to build each dino. The red and yellow Duplo dino has larger parts and fewer shapes to represent the bulkier elements. The System dino includes smaller parts to give the sculpting more details, while the Technic dino uses molded parts like the skeleton arms, and actual Technic elements like half-bushings and friction half-pins with studs.
The three completed dinosaurs attach to white round bases representing the large white pedestals the full-size models are mounted on.
The Wooden Duck build
This model starts out with the base of the duck rather than the plate and tile base which comes later. The model is simple, but does a great job of capturing the details, including 4 wheels that actually turn, and a pull string.
The final base includes a few small rounded parts that keep the duck in place.
The Brick Molding Machine build
The final build in the set is a highly detailed brick molding machine. The bright lime green color and the “studs not on top” construction make the finished model very interesting, and a nice hint of the technology behind our favorite building brick.
Conclusions and recommendations
I thoroughly enjoyed building this set. The models are fun to build and well-suited for display on a shelf or desk. And with the holidays just around the corner, this collection of mini-models would make a great gift or addition to any collection.
