LEGO Disney BrickHeadz 40476 Daisy Duck and 40477 Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Dewey & Louie [Review]

Ever since LEGO first introduced Mickey and Minnie Mouse back in 2018, and followed up in 2020 with Goofy, Pluto, and Donald Duck, fans of these classic Disney characters may have noticed some missing characters; namely a few other ducks from the line-up. Well, the wait is now over, as LEGO is coming out with four new BrickHeadz in two sets: Daisy Duck (#126), and Donald’s Uncle Scrooge (#127), and his nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie (#128-130). We received advance copies of the feathered family and we’re breaking it all down, and building them up to give you the scoop.

Both sets will be available on June 1st. 40476 Daisy Duck includes 110 pieces and is estimated to cost US $9.99 | CAN $TBD | UK £TBD while 40477 Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Dewey & Louie includes 340 pieces and is estimated to cost US $19.99 | CAN $TBD | UK £TBD.

The box and contents

Daisy Duck comes in a standard BrickHeadz single box, with Daisy on the front along with the Disney Mickey Mouse and Friends branding. The back of the box features Daisy from a different angle along with her base, and smaller pictures of the other sets in the Mickey Mouse and Friends sub-theme, Goofy, Pluto and Donald Duck. One side features Daisy Duck in illustration form. Inside are three un-numbered bags, a 6×6 plate, and an instruction booklet.

Scrooge and the triplets come in a wider blue and black box with a halftone graphic pattern and the Disney DuckTales branding. The characters are shown on the front of the box. One side of the box features Scrooge and the triplets from the DuckTails television series. The back of the box shows the characters in a different arrangement, along with their bases. The box comes with 5 numbered bags, 2 for Scrooge and 3 for the triplets, along with 2 instruction booklets.

The build

Starting with Daisy Duck, we get the typical core of bricks with outward-facing studs, and one of the two printed elements of the set, a v-neck shirt. Next is her duckbill, in the same style as Donald Duck, along with the second printed element, Daisy’s curly eyelashes.

But we are not done yet, as Daisy Duck would not be complete without her pink shoes and giant pink bow.

Now, let’s give Daisy some company. Scrooge starts out much like Daisy, with a printed brick for his shirt, and yet another stack of bricks with outward-facing studs. Moving on to the head of the world’s richest duck we get his signature spectacles resting on a duckbill exactly like Daisy’s.

We finish the model with a bit of feathers on each cheek, and his classic top hat and cane. There is also a nice detail on Scrooge’s feet: his classic red spats. What is noticeably missing from Uncle Scrooge is the famous first dime that holds a very special place in the old bird’s heart.

With the adults out of the way, let’s move on to the triplets. At this point, the build gets a bit repetitive as each of the triplets, not surprisingly, is exactly the same apart from the color of their shirt and hat. First is a small core of bricks built on the 3×3 “buddy” standard, and a small bracket in the back for the tail.

We continue stacking the bricks with outward-facing studs including a few of the newer 1×1 bricks with studs on two adjacent corners. Each triplet includes a single 1×1 pink plate for a brain.

Next, we come to the duckbill, which is slightly smaller than those of the grown-ups, and as such, the design does feel a little flat and lacks the distinctly upward curve. To be fair, even the adult bills are straight.

The head ends with standard tiles on the back and sides, and we also add feet made with a smaller wedge plate from the adult ducks.

The triplets each end with a baseball hat the same color as their shirts in green, dark azure, and red.

The finished model

Once the dust and the feathers have settled, the Duck family is finally complete and they are ready to fly off on yet another adventure. Each character is well designed to be instantly recognizable. However, I do feel like the triplets could have had a bit more personality, which could easily have been achieved by simply giving them props, or having one of them wear their hat sideways or backwards.

Conclusion and recommendations

While I may have been a bit underwhelmed by the design of the triplets, overall, these two sets would make a great addition to any BrickHeadz collection. But if you are only interested in parts, there is nothing particularly special about the pieces in either set. However, with the higher part count and numerous small parts, Scrooge McDuck and the triplets make a fairly decent parts pack if they’re the pieces you want.
