Top 10 most popular LEGO set reviews of 2019 on the Brothers Brick [News]

In 2019, The Brothers Brick team reviewed a total of 68 sets of all piece counts and sizes. The signature sets of the year included those from familiar themes like LEGO Star Wars and Creator Expert. We also looked at a few other non-retail sets such as the Bricklink fan designed sets and even a Brickmania custom kit – did they make the cut?

Using view counts as a frame of reference, we’ve pulled together our most popular set reviews of 2019 that you, the fans, voted for with your clicks. Is there one set that stood out for you that you can clearly remember? Or are you rooting for a particular favourite of yours? Without further delay, let’s dive right into the list.

#10. LEGO Technic 42098 Car Transporter | Read our Review

At number 10, we have the longest LEGO vehicle released to date. Coming in at over 3 feet in length, this Technic set that comes with instructions to build an alternate model is sure to provide extended fun and play.

#9. LEGO 75243 Slave I – 20th Anniversary Edition | Read our Review

At number 9, the new issue of the Slave I from the LEGO Star Wars 20th Anniversary celebration is quite the winner. It comes in as the 2nd largest Slave I from LEGO’s portfolio, right after the Ultimate Collector Series issue from 2015.

#8. LEGO Ideas 40335 Space Rocket Ride (Gift with Purchase) | Read our review

Number 8 is a surprise entry for us, with the LEGO Ideas community submission contest turned into a LEGO Gift with Purchase set. While tiny, it’s an evergreen theme that brings back memories of a mechanical ride at the mall.

#7.  The Lego Movie 2 70840 Welcome To Apocalypseburg | Read our review

From one of the tiniest sets in the lineup to the largest, The LEGO Movie 2’s Welcome To Apocalypseburg slides in at number 7. It’s an original design from the movie, brimming with detail including a fallen representation of the Statue of Liberty. The post-apocalyptic theme definitely has its appeal.

#6. LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71024 Disney Series 2 | Read our Review

In my opinion, no top 10 LEGO Review list is complete without a LEGO Collectible Minifigures series. In particular, the 2nd Series from the land of Disney was a surefire hit. Appearances of a few favourites that weren’t present in the first series are likely what pulled fans back into the Disney CMF collecting frenzy.

#5. LEGO Creator Expert 10269 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy | Read our review

The Harley was a surprise when it first hit the news. This great looking 2-wheeler was built primarily with System parts (instead of the typical Technic parts) and captured the hearts of motorcyclists across the globe. Coming in midway into the countdown, it certainly has me thinking twice if I’m missing out on something good.

#4. Brickmania 1033 F-14 Tomcat Supersonic Air Superiority Interceptor custom kit + NAS Miramar Action Pack custom minifigures | Read our Review

Among the themes LEGO has avoided are military-type vehicles, and number 4 illustrates how there is a demand for such a theme that can be filled by a niche player. The Brickmania Tomcat is certainly a beauty to add to your collection if you fancy fast rides in the sky.

#3. The LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures 71023 | Read our Review

Ranking higher than the Disney Collectible Minifigures, those from The LEGO Movie 2 were popular enough to place in 3rd. And no wonder; there were plenty of exciting characters in this assortment, including a person in a crayon suit, steampunk Abraham Lincoln, and even the protagonists from The Wizard of Oz!

#2. LEGO Stranger Things 75810 The Upside Down | Read our review

One of the most unique and unpredictable releases of 2019 was the Netflix Stranger Things collaboration. There’s so much to love with the dual-themed upside-down build, including box artwork that is, simply.. well, out of this world.

#1. LEGO Creator Expert 10265 Ford Mustang | Read our review

The Ford Mustang takes the crown for being the most viewed review on The Brothers Brick in 2019. As always, the Creator Expert series is a winner in LEGO’s lineup of vehicles. With wide appeal for a classic car, there’s little that can go wrong.

We are living in a LEGO golden age. I feel very fortunate that the company didn’t go under in the 90s-early 2000s.
