Last September, LEGO launched the AFOL Designer Program in cooperation with BrickLink to help bring fan designs to life and produce limited edition sets for sale. BrickLink has since crowdfunded and revealed the packaging for several of the sets, and today is the last day to pre-order any of the designs (including free shipping) before they officially launch.
Of the initial 16 finalists, all but three have officially reached their crowdfunding goals to be produced. You can read about each of the designs and place pre-orders on BrickLink’s crowdfunding page.
The box designs have also been revealed as sleek, minimalist white sleeves surrounding a stark, black box. The packaging includes both BrickLink’s logo and LEGO’s 60th Anniversary of the Brick logo.
The premium sleeves also unfold to reveal a backdrop unique to each set, providing a custom environment for each set to shine.
Did you pre-order any of the AFOL Designer Program sets? What do you think about the packaging? Leave you thoughts in the comments below.
I ordered the Saloon, after I was able to borrow the actual BrickLink set from them at Brickscascade 2019 and put it in our Western display, and can’t wait to receive mine, I will be doing a live unboxing on Facebook when I receive it. You can see photos of it in the display on Instagram at Jbonnfire or friend me on Facebook to see it unveiled.
I didnt pre-ordered a set, but I really like the minimalistic design of the packages.
