Knights of the Mineral Collection

When approaching new minifigure designs, I’ve always found myself drawn to the dark fantasy aesthetic and take a lot of inspiration from the Dark Souls series. When that can be paired with a little bit of whimsy, that’s even better! I started imagining these six characters as soon as I saw the new Mineral Collection from LEGO. I loved the idea of an order of knights who could be paired with each of the crystals in the set. As lore is also important to me, I had a really fun time writing little poems and such to go along with my builds. I hope you’ll enjoy!

Rhodochrosite:

Should you find yourself
Unsure
Let not your wariness of spirit become all-consuming.
Many fears are born out of reluctance to question
Be at peace with yourself
Knowing
That things unfold as they should.

Pyrite:

Foolish to think that
Things of gold might be
Best.
I swear to you I’ve seen more
Beauty trapped beneath
Grit.

LEGO Ideas 21362 Mineral Collection: Crystals from bricks [Review]

LEGO Ideas (nee CUUSOO) is still going strong, and 21362 Mineral Collection is the 70th (!) set in the theme. Ideas produces everything from Minecraft and Sonic sets that turn into whole themes, to one-off properties that are unlikely to ever be a full LEGO partner, to models that might pull some new builders into the hobby. 21362 Mineral Collection seems closer to that last category, similar to the lovely Insect Collection, more likely to provide inspiration for fan models in the same vein, but less likely to spawn a whole line similar to the Botanical Collection – but you never know! LEGO builds follow a grid, and crystals are formed when molecules are arranged in a regular, repeating, three-dimensional matrix… kind of like a grid. Does mixing the two work? Let’s dig into perhaps the most translucent LEGO Ideas sets yet!

LEGO Ideas 21362 Mineral Collection revealed – a real gem [News]

The LEGO Ideas program is such a strange label, where TV shows and movie vehicles stand alongside pieces that wouldn’t look out of place in a science museum. Case in point, the 70th Ideas set, LEGO Ideas 21362 Mineral Collection, debuts on October 1 alongside Gizmo from Gremlins. The Mineral collection feels akin to the Insect Collection, which is one of our favorite sets of recent years. Featuring six mineral samples and modular shelving, it’s a display piece that you can mix and match to your tastes. The set is based on the fan design from Dario Del Frate, with slight variations to the minerals presented. We’ll be back soon with our full review.
