Our favorite holiday tradition is opening all six LEGO Advent Calendars, one day at a time, with you, our readers! Along with spoiler pics of the daily gifts, we include commentary and alternate builds to celebrate the season and creativity.
We have an all-star cast of custom minifig creators leading our Advent adventure this year. Fool’s Figures is wizarding his way through Harry Potter and Frozen calendars. ExpansionBricks is launching Star Wars and Friends. And beyondb0nes is digging into Minecraft and City. Now let’s open some doors and see what gifts are in store for today!
Fools: Cedric Diggory is our last minifigure inclusion. A bit disappointing, to be honest.
Jake: While I appreciate that LEGO is mixing things up with Harry Potter this year, the repetition of sweatered characters means variety takes a big hit.
Fools: A very fancy ice-table with a cupcake and some hot chocolate.
Bones: I love the color of this table with the transparent tiles. Also, some nice little pieces with the accessories!
Fools: For my alt build, Olivander’swand-making desk.
Jake: A simple build that would have been a nice inclusion in the actual calendar. Give those figs something to do!
Bones: A little train is also a classic in the calendars, and this one is much nicer than the 2024 version. The use of 1×1 round tiles for the wheels really makes it pop, and it wouldn’t look out of place at all in a modular toy shop.
Expansion: That train is awesome and is probably the closest I’ll ever get to owning the elusive Orient Express set (even if it is a totally different model).
Fools: This little holiday train build is super cute! I encourage you to go check out your local model train community, especially during this holiday season! They’ll often have a big holiday setup somewhere, and I’ve seen quite a few with LEGO!
Jake: They could have added more detail if they went with a 3D printed version, just saying.
Bones: After a long session of farming, crafting, and enchanting, a little break is more than welcome. Just be careful not to fall asleep in front of those candles though, without a candlestick, things could catch fire!
Fools: I didn’t even recognize this as a Minecraft gift at first. This chair, table, and candles resemble nothing that can be made in the game.
Jake: I wonder if the chair was designed by the chair maker in the new Modular?
Expansion: Are those unattended candles or melted marshmallows? Hard to say which is more heartbreaking.
Bones: The Chantilly Mobile Unit 01 and its commander join the celebration.
Fools: If the Lego Galaxy Squad members suddenly got REALLY into baking, I’ve got a feeling this is what they would cook up.
Jake: Seeing this reminds me of the Juggernaut. Maybe this alt build can help manifest a gingerbread Juggernaut next year that can makeup for this year’s clunker.
Expansion: Today, Friends gifts us an assortment of accessories for the pets. I don’t care who you are, se: eing your pet with a little hat on is always the best thing about your day 4/5
Bones: A nice little setup for accessories. The grumpy cat in me would have paired each accessory with each animal gift as we went along.
Fools: Some welcome glow-ups for all of the animal companions included in the calendar!
Expansion: A droid seen for 5 seconds in the “A New Hope” Jawa scene repainted in Christmas tree colours. How a droid like this is instantly recognisable to SW fans is beyond me yet somehow I know exactly what it is. 5/5
Bones: It’s actually the third Christmas-themed gift, with the Jawa from day 15 and the mouse droid, right? Cool. Aside from that, I don’t remember that medical droid at all. Of course, we would have preferred the humanoid version!
Fools: A much more niche selection for today’s droid, and a recolor too, which I really appreciate!
Expansion: The Friends sleepover group has gone too far this time and created an unstable laser canon. Take cover!
