Our favorite holiday tradition is opening all six LEGO Advent Calendars, one day at a time, with you, our readers! Along with spoiler pics of the daily gifts, we include commentary and alternate builds to celebrate the season and creativity.
We have an all-star cast of custom minifig creators leading our Advent adventure this year. Fool’s Figures is wizarding his way through Harry Potter and Frozen calendars. ExpansionBricks is launching Star Wars and Friends. And beyondb0nes is digging into Minecraft and City. Now let’s open some doors and see what gifts are in store for today!
Fools: It always hurts a bit when LEGO markets something as being exclusive, and then goes back on it. These printed Galleon tiles were first featured in the Collector’s Edition Gringotts Wizarding Bank, only to appear again here.
Bones: I don’t know… I’m really happy to see pieces that used to be exclusive to big, expensive sets become accessible to more people. I’m looking forward to the moc that will reuse this beautiful print as a coat of arms on a medieval castle.
Expansion: My intrusive thoughts are telling me to plonk those galleons in a vending machine
Fools: This little fireplace looks a little bare, but don’t worry, we’ll improve it later on!
Fools: Inflation is crazy these days. Up and to the right!
Bones: And yet we keep buying LEGO… isn’t it wonderful?
Jake: It looks like a nice turntable to me. DJ Griphook has the best bling.
Bones: The second costume of the year after the polar bear from Day 1. Once again, it’s not a new mold but a reuse of the one found in collectible minifigures series 23. The two minifigures will probably go very well together, with two very similar torsos, a small red scarf here versus a bell collar on the other.
Expansion: So the reindeer needed a compass all these years? There was me thinking they were GOOD at their jobs.
Jake: To be fair, this reindeer lacks a glowing red nose. A compass could help if things get foggy.
Bones: It’s a young reindeer, still training her navigation skills!
Bones: After crafting items with the crafting table from Day 3, this time we’re going to enchant them with the Enchanting Table. It’s quite a generous day, since in addition to the build (which includes two printed bricks and one printed tile) we also get a Steve minifigure with an exclusive torso representing a snow golem. It’s a very nice torso, with the bonus of having opaque white printing.
Expansion: I’m sooo jealous I didn’t get this enchantment table. It really is perfect
Jake: Everyone gets a compass!
Bones: Meet the Pumpkin Knight, so full of himself that even his crest features… himself!
Expansion: A crate with 3 droid parts?? This might be the most uninspired window of the whole calendar. The gold droid legs at a nice reuse from the English pub modular, but without a full droid it’s a bit useless. 1/5
Bones: At least they give you the grey crate, a bit less common than the reddish brown one!
Expansion: A festive post card. A nice scene with more wreaths and a candle and it goes well with the previous day. 3/5
Bones: A small and simple build, but richly decorated.
Expansion: C-3PO is reimagined as something of a Frankenstein’s monster-droid. Although he spends more time giving piggybacks than terrorizing villages.
Jake: He’s so tall! Jacob Elordi will have to play him in the film.
Bones: C-3PO if he hadn’t gotten his body back at the end of Episode 2.

I find it hilarious that the Galleons have the classic LEGO Castle dragon on them.
