Chicago or bust

So many great builders are gonna be exhibiting at Brickworld this year, I almost don’t know who’s work I’m most excited to see! But a series of busts by Tyler Halliwell (The Deathly Halliwell) will probably be somewhere near the top of the list. Check out this latest addition to his collection, the Sandman, from the Neil Gaiman comics (er, I mean “graphic novels”) of the same name:

And this suitably bling-y bust of Anubis, jackal-headed Egyptian god of the afterlife:

I love the ANUBIS it is top notch! Very detailed and looks like a piece of sculpture found in a pyramid in Egypt!
The talent we have in LEGO as an art medium is incredible! It looks like LEGO is becoming an adult medium!

Don’t be so coy about the word comic—The Sandman is unrepentantly a comic book, published in single issues for years. It’s easy to consider them graphic novels these days, since that’s the main way they’re available today, but trying to create an arbitrary line between comics and graphic novels based on perceived literary value isn’t good for the medium.

More on topic, this MOC is a great depiction of the character and a fantastic model overall. I would love to see this builder’s take on the other Endless from the series, especially Delirium.

Anubis is very well executed, but the Sandman bust is the one that stands out for me. The glowing eyes are great, but it’s the windblown hair that really sets it apart.
