Provokative news: LEGO Halo video game and a man who stole 42K worth of LEGO
Two recent interesting news items are worth your attention. First off, Bungie is making a LEGO Halo video game based in the style of the popular Star Wars LEGO games. Wait, what? Click on the picture from the April Issue of EGM (1up.com’s magazine) below to read more:
Edit (AB): Sorry folks, the comments are starting to annoy more than they amuse, so let’s just lay this one to rest. EGM’s April issue (released in March, as is the case with many magazines) is famous for its April Fool’s jokes. There will be no LEGO Halo video game.
Next, a man steals $42,000 worth of LEGO from various stores. How did he first get away without detection? Read the news article and find out his method of operation.
Meanwhile, listen to LAML Radio podcast #26 as Mike Huffman and I join in on the discussion and share our responses. Is the LEGO Halo game for real? Has Bricklink sellers committed similar fraud by stealing LEGO? Tune in to find out.

The former is rubbish (even if true, the adjective still applies!) the latter, a hero.
March 4th, 2008 at 3:46 pm
Stupid Targets, this is the 2nd or 3rd time some guy stole craploads of LEGOs from Targets.
And the Halo video game thing is clearly…..
APRIL FOOLS!
And and it seems a fool is born every day… (you not me)…. :)

LEGO Halo? Seriously?
*runs off to discuss with various sources*
March 4th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
LEGO Halo? I sure hope not. I’ve never really liked Halo, although I’ve never really liked FPS games in general.
Now LEGO Mario, that would rawk.
March 4th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
For the love of God, say it ain’t so.
March 4th, 2008 at 4:29 pm
It ain’t so, ad I already said that. :-p
March 4th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
That Halo story is all over the web as a hoax. Maybe Duney or another Ambassador can get the inside story, but i wouldn’t be holding our collective breaths.
March 4th, 2008 at 4:35 pm
say it’s so
March 4th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
Pfft. Anthony Ricca is no Bill Swanberg.
March 4th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
The Halo game is a hoax. EGM does it every April, and people always get confused because the April issue hits newsstands in March.
Say it with me:
THERE IS NO LEGO HALO GAME.
March 4th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
Crazy. I hope it’s real. Also, just because people on the internet say it’s fake doesn’t mean it is. Take the Sonic thing, for example. At first they said Sonic wasn’t going to be in the new SSB, but now they say he is.
March 4th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
Probably a hoax. EGM has an annual tradition of throwing in a fun April Fool’s joke into their April issue.
March 4th, 2008 at 5:11 pm
It’s EGM’s famous April Fool’s Day joke, I guess more LEGO fans are fools than I thought. :)
IT’S NOT REAL!
End of Story.

“There is apparently some type of nostalgic or intrinsic value for these Star Wars Legos products, where individuals that are fans of Star Wars end up bidding for these products and buying them on Ebay.”
Um, yeah…
March 4th, 2008 at 6:16 pm
wheather or not there will be a lego halo gamel, I dont care. the only thing i want are halo sets(preferably ones like justin stebbuns MOCs.)btw i hope if they are made the dont suck.
March 4th, 2008 at 6:16 pm
Charlie, they said Sonic would be in SSB: Melee, and he isn’t. That was over 5 years ago.
March 4th, 2008 at 6:23 pm
“Pfft. Anthony Ricca is no Bill Swanberg.”
Hey! I ordered from that guy!
March 4th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
The Halo game is an april fools joke. I can put a link up when I get back to my computer to prove it.
March 4th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
“The Halo game is a hoax. EGM does it every April, and people always get confused because the April issue hits newsstands in March.”
Sounds plausible. I mean, really – LEGO Halo? Didn’t we all agree already that is was never gonna happen? If we feel that way about sets, why would we fall for a joke about the game? Still too adult stuff for LEGO.
March 4th, 2008 at 11:50 pm
OHHH c’mon the halo thing is obviously a joke! LEGO would never make a game out of another really violent one.
March 4th, 2008 at 11:59 pm
“Charlie, they said Sonic would be in SSB: Melee, and he isn’t. That was over 5 years ago.”
Doesn’t mean it isn’t an april fools joke. Wouldn’t be the first time one of their april fools jokes was later made into reality. See article here:

Okay:
Halo Lego Game = NOT REAL
Sonic in Brawl = TOTALLY REAL
Guy Steal Lego = his choice…. but I am a bit upset they used the word “legos” so many times. Last time I checked, the Lego brand was the only one with a Star Wars Line.
March 5th, 2008 at 3:25 am
The Halo mini-figs looked kinda good. But when is TLC making Lord of the Rings Lego sets?
Every kid wants nightmare scary orc mini-figs, don’t they?
March 5th, 2008 at 4:56 am
How can it be an April Fools joke if it’s not April yet?
(Also, I’m aware that LEGO Halo is fake)
March 5th, 2008 at 5:51 am
I was about to point out that this is April Fools Day coming up, but it seems someone else already said that. Seriously, I don’t believe this game is real for a second. LEGO would make a toy line before a game if it were real anyway. And then I’d be torn between sadness and happiness.
If LEGO did make a Halo line, I hope they’d make the Elites look better than the ones in that image. Those barely resemble Elites in the slightest…
March 5th, 2008 at 5:59 am
Besides socrp, your MOCs are way better than those anyway!
March 5th, 2008 at 6:09 am
“There is apparently some type of nostalgic or intrinsic value for these Star Wars Legos products, where individuals that are fans of Star Wars end up bidding for these products and buying them on Ebay”
So you say Sherlock Holmes?
March 5th, 2008 at 7:06 am
I don’t have time to read through all the comments but I am sure someone pointed this out.
Its the April issue. April fools everyone.
March 5th, 2008 at 7:25 am
Wait…April Fools on March 4th?
March 5th, 2008 at 7:39 am
My god… I can’t believe the people here, I feel like I’m talking to a brick wall, or in other terms talking on Brickset.
It’s March, magazines come out one month early. EGM is know for there famous April Fools Day Jokes, like Sonic and Tails in Super Smash Brothers MELEE, not Brawl, Tails isn’t in Brawl.
Several people have said this several times. LEGO doesn’t make Halo sets, so they aren’t going to have a game be made.
If this article is for real, and is the official announcement of the game I will buy everyone the damn game.
March 5th, 2008 at 11:30 am
*checks release date*
if it’s real, it’s either out when lego universe is, or a year after.
If it’s real, lego had better get to work on some halo sets.
if it’s not real, I won’t really care, because I don’t play Halo (no X-box. Wii and PS3 are good enough for me… and could be better than the X-box anyhow.)
March 5th, 2008 at 1:39 pm
“Charlie, they said Sonic would be in SSB: Melee, and he isn’t.”
Last time I checked he was. Not saying this is real, although I would believe it if it wasn’t for the April Fools thing. Too bad, though, it would have been cool.
March 5th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
Yeah, I’m with Nathan (Lord_of_the_LEGO) on this one — an April Fool’s joke on March 4th isn’t nearly as funny as one that’s actually on April 1st. Just confusing, mainly… :(
David, as correct as you were, repeating yourself isn’t necessarily the most effective way of getting your point across. ;-)
March 5th, 2008 at 5:14 pm
You misspelled “provocative”.
March 5th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
What has no one noticed before that April issues of magazine are in the news agents in March, seriously people wake up.
January 4th, 2009 at 11:48 am
LOL!
January 4th, 2009 at 11:49 am
my birthday is march 4th!
Happy january!
January 13th, 2009 at 9:01 pm

January 13th, 2009 at 9:06 pm
^ No, and there never will be.
