Few things bring together the LEGO community like Collectible Minifigs. Whether you’re looking for new elements, chasing nostalgia, or hunting for a friend to sit on your desk, CMF have something for everyone. Series 28, released this month, is all about animal costumes (you can read our review here). Even with this narrow theme, the figures are inspiring a zoo’s worth of creative builds. Whether you’re a habitat fan or a mecha mechanic, there’s plenty to appreciate in this menagerie of minifigs!
Candy Bricks created several impressive vignettes for the different animal figs. Our favorite features the frog amongst toadstools. Candy expands on the included bubble wand with a forest full of big bubbles.
Thorben (tee_baum_bricks) takes the frog fig in a very different direction, swapping bubbles for a very big sword! The CMF body gets repurposed as bigfig hands for this absolute brute of an amphibian. (You can see more of Thorben’s crazy mechs here).
Garret (2p_figs) used the frog head for the centerpiece of this swampy sorcerer. Leaf elements make for perfect froggy feet.
Of course there are a lot of non-frog critters in the mix…
Builder March_march22 chose her nickname “March” after the Japanese snack Koala’s March that was introduced the same day she was born. Using the CMF koala, she pays tribute to the snack’s iconic box art.
Nick Sweetman creates a delightful fish tank habitat for the CMF goldfish fig. I’m sure we’ll be seeing many more animal habitats in the coming weeks.
David Manfred creates a very different enclosure for the goldfish a mech! Armed with an anchor flail and a harpoon gun, this CMF is ready to bowl over any foes.
lego.kumii celebrated #mosaicsonmonday by creating a mini mosaic for every figure in the line.
Bambus Bricks Customs usually makes cyberpunk and dark fantasy builds, but the CMF animals brought out his soft side. The first fig too come from the series is Kumar, the Monkey Warrior.
Expansion Bricks can always be counted on to find clever uses for minifig elements. Here our friend uses the lion headpiece for a Roman soldier.
Rocket Bricks saw the crocodile figure and immediately thought “Lizard!” The headpiece is a great fit for the iconic Spider-Man villain.
were.addicted.to.plastic brilliantly plays with perspective using the CMF dog headpiece to depict a neighborhood dog wagging its tail behind a fence.
Erwan (lego_fun) unleashes the dalmatian fig to get revenge on poor Cruella DeVil. Bad dog! Frisbees aren’t weapons!
While participating in the Iron Forge last week, I snuck a couple of CMF birds into one of my buids. The CMF macaw is pretty close to scale as an actual bird alongside a Belville figure.
Meanwhile, the trusty LEGO Park Ranger account has snuck a few CMF animals into its recent posts about the US Parks Service.
Finally, Story Brick didn’t just create scenes for her figs – she animated them!
Have you picked up any of the CMF 28 animals? Which is your favorite and what will you build with it?
