Today LEGO announced the newest addition to the Ultimate Collector Series, 75144 Snowspeeder. Like traditional UCS sets, this snowspeeder is a large model loaded with details, and can be displayed with a stand and info card. The Snowspeeder has 1,703 pieces and includes 2 minifigures. The set will cost $199.99 USD and will be available beginning on Star Wars day, aka May the 4th, in LEGO stores and from the LEGO Shop Online.

This will be the second Snowspeeder in the UCS line, following 10129 Rebel Snowspeeder, which was released nearly 14 years ago in 2003. The original Snowspeeder currently sells for around $2,000 for an unopened copy, or around $900 for a used copy, so the new set will provide a much more economical means of populating your display shelves with a cool Snowspeeder model (and naturally bring the prices down on the old one, also). The new model is roughly the same scale as the older version, but adds about 250 pieces over the original’s 1,455. The windscreen in the older version is made of a pair of classic hinged canopies set side by side with a single large sticker applied over both. The new 75144 Snowspeeder uses a brand-new canopy element and uses angled plates for the front instead of stacked slope bricks.
