Our favorite holiday tradition is opening all six LEGO Advent Calendars, one day at a time with you, our readers! Along with spoiler pics of the daily gifts, we include commentary and alternate builds to celebrate the season and creativity.
We have an all-star cast of custom minifig creators leading our Advent adventure this year. Fool’s Figures is wizarding his way through Harry Potter and Frozen calendars. ExpansionBricks is launching Star Wars and Friends. And beyondb0nes is digging into Minecraft and City. Now let’s open some doors and see what gifts are in store for today!
Expansion: The iconic beginning of every young magician’s journey, a Hogwarts acceptance letter!
Bones: A really elegant build, simple yet effective. The exclusive printed 2×2 round tile plays a big role in enhancing the visual impact of such a straightforward construction.
Expansion: This envelope is nicely scaled to the Hedwig build from Day 2! A slight rearrangement of the clips used for her feet, and she’s ready to deliver Harry’s letter!
Jake: Okay, I admit it, Hedwig is a pretty superb owl when you configure his wings like that.
Expansion: Olaf is the star of day 3, with an exclusive minifigure head print used for his body. He also comes with a generous assortment of holiday treats!
Jake: They could have just released Olaf on his own. This is much better!
Bones: Extra points for the bow tie printed on Olaf’s body, a charming detail that makes this snowman even more festive and Christmas-themed.
Jake: I can’t wait to see what sort of custom minifig you sickos will make with that cursed body print.
Bones: A crafting table with a shovel and a lamp, for those who don’t already have plenty of them in their Minecraft sets! But well, if this is your first one, of course, you need one, don’t you?
Fools: I’m liking the natural progression in this calendar so far. Player spawns in, gets wood from a tree, makes a crafting table, some torches, and a wooden tool. Although I personally would’ve gone for a pickaxe.
Jake: I like the carpet beater.
Bones: For Teddy Bear collectors who already have the panda or the grizzly, here comes a new recolor of the little bear. Oh, and he’s standing on a table. Nice, isn’t it?
Fools: A perfect friend for the polar bear lad from Day 1!
Expansion: Based on that gear, I think that teddy bear is already better at playing Minecraft than I am!
Jake: The start of a cozy Minecraft home.
Expansion: This C3PO is almost as cool as Babu Frik. Arm printing feels generous for an Advent calendar, and those red eyes being reused from Rebuild the Galaxy makes this the only official “sith C3PO” from episode 9. 5/5
Fools: Arm printing in an Advent calendar is a big win, and this figure has great prints head to toe.
Expansion: That lamp/sofa build is pretty cool with some useful parts too. This sleepover is going to have no shortage of furniture 4/5
Fools: I wish I had something this snazzy in my living room! I just know those pink cushions are soft and fluffy.
Jake: I think I had that lamp when I left dorm life and tried to decorate like a grown-up.
Bones: The fact that the lamp is connected to the couch with a 1×4 rounded plate adds a nice smooth touch to this seventies-inspired design.
Expansion: Those lamp bulbs were giving major snowball vibes, and of course, 3PO needed a command post to protect.
Jake: A command post in Sith red! Very jolly. What are the odds that Threepio can hit a target with that snowball?
